SENIORS MATCH REPORT vs HOLROYD-PARRAMATTA GOANNAS
The Nor-West Jets Senior Team hit some irresistible form on Saturday with an comprehensive 138 demolition of local rivals Holroyd-Parramatta Goannas at the Jets ‘second home ground’, affiliate club East Coast’s fortress, Bruce Purser Oval.
With 7 changes to the team that thrashed the Southern Power the week before, the Jets were missing full forward Cranky Craigie & full back Oyster Brophy, dual rucks Shagga Travers to a forced hiatus in the Maldives and injury to Spider Webster, but welcomed captain BOFT Wenselowski from a hand injury (and his 5 month 2 week anniversary celebrations), on-baller Gezbie Smits & promoted reserves co-captain Junna Collins and spearhead Mavros Davidson as a key target up front. Even a venue change from Charles McLaughlin to Purser didn’t deter the Jets, as they piled on 5 first quarter unanswered goals in the first quarter. Sole ruckman Boots Wellington fed his midfield runners of Snowy Clayden, General Milkins, Ox Anderson, in a superb display, and a master class from Hollywood Sullivan, who collected numerous touches with ease. A 34 point lead at the first break threatened to blow out, with the Goannas trying everything they could to register their first score.
The Jets slammed on another 5 goals in the second term, with Disco Kyle playing the crumbing role up forward, proving cooler than the bottom side of the pillow (With thanks to the Sydney AFL commentary for that one) on his way to a career best 8 goals, ably supported by Clayden with 5, who showed sublime skills and was rarely troubled by his opponents, who watched on as he jinked, stepped and shimmied his way around the vast expanses of Purser. The Goannas used the ball to good effect, kicking two of their own, but the Jets went to the sheds with a handy 9 goal lead.
Coach Kyle asked his players to turn it on in the second half, and they responded in kind, with 6 in the 3rd and 8 in the last, and only conceded two more, with the half back line of Hank Bayne, MonkeyFace Pascoe & Wanga Sherwood repelling all that Parramatta sent their way, switching the ball with regularity to the wing, where co-captain Dildo Butcher used his pace and strength to send the ball inside 50 for the small forwards to capitalise.
In the end, the Jets ran out comfortable winners, and secured second spot on the ladder after the Dogs hammered UTS, and look forward to meeting old foes, Penrith Rams next week at Greygums in what is always a tough and physical game. The Jets have a host of key players to return through reserve grade over the coming weeks, and both grades will prove hard to beat on their march to September.

RESERVES MATCH REPORT vs HOLROYD-PARRAMATTA GOANNAS
The Jets reserve grade team took the short trip to ‘Bruce Purser’ this week to meet local rivals Holroyd-Parramatta well prepared for what is always a strong physical hit out. The game marked the 50th Club game for Jets stalwart Norm Guns Hanley and the boys were keen to notch up another win to celebrate the event. With several changes and some new faces it was hard to know what to expect although we were very confident of another victory. The pace of the game was set with the first bounce with Casey BOFT Wenselowski bursting through the centre, after being fed by ruckman Adam Elmo Newton, and delivering the ball sweetly to the dominant Jets forward line. The Jets continued their domination of the first term keeping the Goanna’s scoreless while they piled on 6 majors, 5 delivered by Mick Lewie Lewis. New players Scott Robbo Roberts and Marty Chook Ingham were bought off the bench early and quickly adapted to the Jets style of running play and showed their class from the outset. With strength being provided across the centre of the ground by first gamer Mark Que Quemard and an impenetrable half back line led by Jimmy Jimmeh Cadet and Dean SnugglePuss Thorpe, defence was regularly turned into attack giving wingmen Brett UncleBertie Carroll and Daniel Lenny Langford a free run in the open spaces. The Goanna’s were once again kept goalless in the second term whilst the Jets posted another 6 goals and went to the long break enjoying an 84 point lead. The jets continued to pile on the pressure throughout the third quarter and posted another 8 goals to one. The final quarter saw the Jets take their ‘foot off the pedal’ and coast home to a 157 point win. The highlight of the game was the best on ground performance of Mick Lewis kicking a bag of 10 goals from a half forward flank. The only worry was what appeared to be a lack of intensity in the final 10 minutes of the game something we need to work on if we want to enjoy some September action.
Next week we travel to Greygums for what will be a must win match against traditional rivals Penrith.
