RESERVES MATCH REPORT vs CAMDEN CATS
The reserves match in particular takes on great importance with the Jets needing a win to regain their spot in the four, while the seniors need to stay in touch with the top two.
We invite both Power and Dogs supporters to join us in the clubrooms and at RG McGees after the game.
While the seniors enjoyed another bye last week, Nor-West reserves ventured down the Northern Road to Camden with a strong team including several players returning from injury or overseas deployment, and ran out 192-point winners over the Cats.
The Jets started slowly as the Cats put in a solid effort in the early going, holding the margin to 30 points at quarter time, a figure reached by three late goals.
New recruits Chris Graffy Graf and ex-Shark Cheyne Ox Anderson were in dominant touch in the middle, roving off the brilliant ruckwork of Paul Spida Webster, while Scott Scallan Allan turned almost everything away off the half back line and Matt Mavros Davidson was dynamic across half forward with three goals.
The Jets slowly gained control as the second quarter drew on, with Webster going forward to produce a damaging five goals and Mick Lewie Lewis snapping up any loose ball to kick four as the visitors added nine goals to one to lead by 82 at half time.
The second half was all Nor-West as superior fitness won out, with the Jets adding 16.14 to no score for the half, including 9.10 in the last term, to break a run of four matches without a win.
Chris Junnas Collins kicked four in the last quarter and Chris Taxi Mattingly played his best game for the season, while Andrew Shagga Travers (three goals) and Jack Pedro Wilson (two) also made their presence felt.
It was impossible to find a bad player among the 22 and it will be tough for selectors to make any changes ahead of today's matches - depending on training appearances and rego payments, of course.
