RESERVES MATCH REPORT vs CAMDEN CATS
The Nor-West Jets reserves team produced an unbelievable performance to break the all-time Hawkesbury Football Club scoring record in a mammoth 243-point belting of Camden in the AFL Sydney Division Four competition at Bensons Lane on Saturday.
The Jets racked up a stunning total of 38.22.250 to the sadly undermanned Cats score of 1.1.7, the highest score in the home teams 29-year history.
The previous Jets record was 196 against Pennant Hills in 2005, while the Hawkesbury Saints are believed to have passed 200 on occasions in the early 1990s.
While the Cats only had 16 players, it was the way Nor-West went about its business that would have most impressed coach Paul Hibbo Hibbins, with 15 players kicking goals.
With plenty of players available the Jets were able to field their strongest possible team with Chris Taxi Mattingly the only player from the round one seniors to be selected, and it was obvious from the first bounce that the fitter, more skilled Jets were about to have a day out.
Jack Pedro Wilson dominated at the centre bounces and gave first use to the onballers, Don Duck Waterston, Chris Disco Kyle, Steve Psycho Staszek, Scott Cindy Braid and Matt Stav Davidson carved up across the centre of the ground and delivered the ball to dominant forwards Stewart Pottsy Potts and Ben Schmacko Willson (six goals each) and Daniel DeeGee Graham and Daniel Daffy Harding (three each).
The result soon resembled a cricket score, but to its credit Camden tried hard despite the Jets having winners all over the ground, and the highlight came late in the last quarter when Pottsy flew over the pack to take a screamer, but winded himself on landing and was unable to take his kick.
Nor-West hosts arch-nemesis Penrith in an Anzac showdown at Bensons Lane on Sunday, with matches starting at 12pm and 2pm, although action starts with an under 18 match between East Coast and Penrith from 10am.
The Jets under 16s and Hawkesbury Saints under 14s and 12s will also play at home on Sunday.
