Congratulations to Club Life Member and dual Premiership winner Chris "Disco" Kyle, on reaching his 50th Club Game on Saturday, against the Southern Sharks at Gwawley Park.
Disco kicked a goal, set up another, and took some strong marks in Reserve Grade's loss to the Sharks, but played his usual elusive game. Disco copped a heavy knock in a pack in the second term, but returned late in the game to present plenty of options up forward.
Disco started his footy with the inaugural "Jets Hybrid", the Hawkesbury Bombers Under 15's team, way back in in 1993, and played in the Under 17 Saints team that eventually came runner-up to Penrith, however a fractured disc in his neck prevented him from playing in that years Grand Final. Disco returned to the Jets after playing Wogball to preserve his frame for his comeback to footy in 2002, and has been a regular ever since.
Some of Disco's highlights include his game against the Goannas reserves in 2002 (see photo and the look on his face, or ask PK or Berty!) and hitting the post twice, in the same spot, in less than 90 seconds, in the 2006 Grand Final at Kelso Oval, a remarkable feat to display such accuracy.
Disco's fleet footed football skills can be best attributed to his time with the famed "Pepsi Dance Troupe" that toured the world, mainly in the South American countries. This culminated in an appearance on Young Talent Time that never went to air, for good reason.
Disco becomes the twelfth player to play 50 club games for the Jets, so we wish him all the best for setting this milestone.
Nice one BRUVVA!!!!
