Seniors
North Shore
kept their finals hopes alive with a 49 point win over the Campbelltown
Blues on Saturday at Gore Hill. Coming off a weeks rest, a rusty North
Shore side took the field in contrast to the polished outfit that
delivered a 79 point win two weeks prior against the UNSW-ES Bulldogs.
The first quarter was marred by basic skill errors which saw North
Shore waste several scoring opportunities. If not for the accuracy of
Lachlan Pryor, the Bombers could have gone into the break behind but
managed a 2 point lead at quarter time. The scoring remained close the
next two quarters with the game up from grabs at three quarter time
with North Shore leading by 15 points. Will Sierakowski backed up his
best on ground performance with another solid performance in the
backline and Lachlan Pryor played an outstanding four quarters of
football to finish the day with five goals in a best on ground
performance. In the last quarter, senior coach Michael Hosking pulled
out some inspired positional changes that delivered immediate results
with full back Chris Murphy starting in the ruck and having immediate
impact kicking the first goal of the quarter. Chris then managed to
give North Shore first use of the ball all quarter with North Shore
managing to kick five answered goals to take the game from
Campbelltown. It was a must win game for North Shore who take on
fellow finals aspirant Western Suburbs next week in another must win
game at Gore Hill.
