Congratulations to Nick 'The General' Milkins on reaching his 50th Senior Grade game against the Southern Sharks in Round 1 on the 12th April 2008.
The General played his heart out against the strong Sharks, starting in the centre and moving into the backline to help out and throw his weight around against some huge key forwards. General was awarded the 'Opposition Six Pack' by the Sharks coach for his efforts, indicating the respect the other teams have for him. (Although he couldn't scull the stubbie)
General has been around Bensons Lane since Moses parted the Red Sea, joining the club from the Forest Hill Cats in the Riverina. Nick played as a forward in his early Hawkesbury days, featuring in the goals in many a football record, until nature dragged him into his spiritual home of the backline. General was rewarded for his decade-plus of effort with a train trip to Premiershipsville for the Jets first Senior flag in 2005, before picking up the clip-board and taking a dual co-captain/coach role with Peter Kyle, winning the club an unprecedented, undefeated, back-to-back premiership in 2006.
General is probably better known around the district for his non-football efforts, winning the 1998 World Uno Tour in Rio De Janiero, and his appearance at the Nagano Olympics with the Australian Toboganning Team, inspired by the Academy Award winning documentary Cool Runnings.
General is only the fourth player in Nor-West history to reach 50 Senior games, with Don Waterston set to play his 50th Senior game when he earns a recall to the Seniors after a blistering performance on the ball in Reserve Grade against the Sharks. Gerard Smits sits on top of the list with 60.
A full breakdown of every grade can be found in the History Section on the left of the website.
Congratulations General on your milestone
