Seniors – North Shore Beaten at the Gong

After a late change of venue from Gore Hill to North Dalton Park due to Friday’s rain, North Shore travelled to Wollongong searching for their first win for the 2008 season. The loss of several key playerss to injury didn’t help North Shore’s cause but the Bombers were confident of a good showing. The first quarter of the game cost North Shore dearly with Wollongong posting 4 goals to North Shore’s nil taking advantage of a strong breeze towards Wollongong’s goal. It was a deficit that North Shore was not able to peg back despite the efforts of Ben Attwood who worked hard all day on the ball, Michael Cowell in the ruck and Adrian Harry in the back pocket. The loss leaves North Shore with a tough job to fight back into contention for season 2008 but the return of several players in the next few weeks should see North Shore return to the winners circle.

North Shore Reserves posted their first win with good games from Matt Buchelor, Ash Naylor and Alex Chiew. The Bombers fought off a spirited rally by Wollongong in the final quarter to win by 22 points.

The North Shore Bears game was transferred to Sunday and the Bears tried hard but suffered several injuries to go down to East Coast. Adrian Cordi and Lewis Clarke were best for the Bears.
