The season’s only been finished for a few weeks, but already preparations are under way for our 2015 campaign. It’s a season where we’ll be going all-out for a return to finals footy for our Premier Division team and to boost our numbers and performance across all our grades.
Jon Hayres stands down as senior coach, but we’re thrilled that he’ll be sticking around to take up a new role as Director of Coaching. He’ll have input across the club, with a strong focus on the development side and ensuring that the up-and-coming talent across the north of Sydney choose North Shore as the best club to play for.
North Shore is happy to announce that Gareth “Guru” Lawson will be coaching our Premier Division side in 2015. Gareth coached our Division Two side this year and is excited to take on the challenge with our seniors. An astute tactician and thinker of the game, he comes with plenty of ideas to give us a strategic edge next season; and an appreciation of what is required to succeed at the highest level of the game through his associations with North Melbourne and West Coast.
We’re also delighted to renew Jamie O’Dell’s appointment as Under 19s coach. O’Dell’s commitment to our young Bombers has been exceptional; and to make it through to the Grand Final this season is a reward for the effort that Jamie and our youngsters have put in. Several of those players were introduced to senior football this year and there’s plenty to get excited about with their development in 2015.
We’ll be announcing Lawson’s assistant coaches in the near future, as well as coaches for our reserves, thirds and fourths for the 2015 season.
On the playing front, pre-season training is not far away. We’ll be announcing dates for our early training sessions shortly; in which the early stages of preparation for 2015 will be taking place. For our playing group, we encourage you to attend as many sessions as you can.
We’re in the process of taking to several potential recruits, aiming to strengthen our playing list for next season. We’ll also have several players returning from injury this year and keen to bounce back fitter and stronger into next season.
But we’re always on the lookout for more. If you’re interested in having a kick in 2015, we’d love to hear from you. With four open-age teams and an Under 19s team, whatever your level of ability, we’ve got an opportunity for you to come and join us. Drop us an email at northshorefc@yahoo.com.au if you’re interested in playing for North Shore next season.
At North Shore, we’re excited at the possibilities ahead of us in 2015 and beyond. It’s a great opportunity to be a part of a footy club on the way up and to be a part of something special.
