North Shore held their end of season presentation night at Northbridge Golf Club on Friday evening; reflecting on the trials and triumphs of the 2014 season.
There was still plenty to celebrate, even though the Bombers didn’t make the finals in Premier Division. More people played for North Shore in 2014 than ever before, with four open-age teams and an Under 19s side. The Under 19s made it through to the Grand Final, while the Division Four team also qualified for finals action.
Ravaged by injury during the season, many players found themselves playing in higher grades than they were used to and it was pleasing to see them taking on the challenge and rising to the occasion.
The evening also recognised the contribution made by sponsors and volunteers, without which our club would be unable to exist or function.
In the Premier Division vote count, Selby Lee-Steere dominated from start to finish. In his first season at the Bombers, he was a standout contributor; which was reflected in the best & fairest voting as he polled a club record 162 votes.

The presentation night marked the end of Jon Hayres’ tenure as senior coach. Jon has been tireless and the values and professionalism he has instilled into our club will be a long-lasting legacy. Jon will continue his involvement with the club in a development role in 2015.
Although there was no finals appearance by Premier Division in 2014, solid foundations have been laid on and off the field that will be built on in future seasons; preparing our club for long-term success.
Preparations for the 2015 season are under way; and we’ll soon be appointing a new senior coach and recruiting players. We have some exciting announcements coming up in the near future, so stay tuned.
Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride. The 2015 season will be upon us soon.
