The Nor-West Jets secured the all important double chance in the upcoming Sydney AFL finals with an emphatic 50 point win over 4th placed Pennant Hills at Bensons Lane on Saturday.
The last time these two teams met in Round 10, the Demons embarrassed the Jets in the wet conditions after Nor-West started with a flurry of goals, and that result was fresh in the minds of the home side. With Vice Captain Aaron Bayne making a surprise return to the team after injury, the Jets started the game strongly in front of a raucous home crowd, adding 3 goals to the Demons 1 in an entertaining first quarter. Troy Clent took the bulk of the ruck duties and dominated his opposition, feeding the ball well to the likes of Ethon Coombs and Captain Owen Butcher, while the back 6 of Brophy, Schwager and David Clinch meted out some solid defence, with Jake Berry outstanding at Centre Half Back.
Tempers flared in the second term as Pennant Hills eased their way back in the contest, as their hard work reaped 3 goals. Butcher was on the receiving end of a vicious tackle that called an end to his day, but Kyle Clarke stepped up in his absence to keep the Jets in the game. A 13 point margin favoured the home side at half time, and a loss would see the Jets drop to 4th spot a week out from finals, however they regrouped and put the Demons to the sword in the second half, restricting them to just 1 goal while adding 7 themselves with efficient movement of the ball and relentless pressure on the opposition. Mick Gray continued his purple patch across half forward with great support from Jye Brennan and Dylan Cruz, as the Jets effectively earned an extra game and some much needed confidence, 13.10-88 to Pennant Hills 5.8-38.

The Reserve Grade faced off against a fired up UTS Bats in the midday fixture, WITH THE Bats providing great resistance early, pressuring the Jets into errors in front of goals in the first term. Paul Webster stood tall at full forward, and Peter Martinoli led his defence to another miserly performance. Sadly, key midfielder Daniel Langford suffered a season ending injury in the first half that saw him off to emergency, in what shapes as a massive loss come finals time. After a slow opening quarter, the Jets opened up the gates in the second, adding 8 straight goals to just 2 behinds to head to the sheds with a 69 point advantage, with Dale Wellington and Cheyne Anderson prominent, and first year player Ashley Light showed his skills with 2 monster goals in a fine display.
The second half was all one way traffic as the Jets marched towards September, with yields of 7 & 5 goals for the last two quarters as they racked up possessions at will, Luke Judd again featuring heavily. Scott Braid showed his class with a bag of 5 goals, as the Jets did as they pleased on their way to a 133 point win, 23.11-149 to UTS 2.4-16.
