It has been a long time since the end of last season and the AGM, so much has happened and this email is to fill you in and bring you up to speed.
Baby business first, we have had new babies arrive at the club, firstly to Ron Wason and Amy a daughter Eliya, to Ash Naylor and Liz a daughter Annabelle Poppy, Brent and Fiona Livy (Brent is a life member) a second son Lachlan. Congratulations to all, the nana’s will be at the ready for lots of cuddles. I am sure there will be more babies to report on during the course of the season.
The girls are making a comeback following the rash of boys born last season.
We have some new faces at the club in 2014, the list of coaching staff is – Prem Div Jon Hayres; Reserves coach Gareth Lawson; Div4 and Div 5 Nick Adams; U19 Jamie O’Dell.
Gareth Lawson is from country Victoria and had a brief stint as a young player with UNSW before moving to Melbourne. More recently Gareth has been involved in the coaching program at North Melbourne and brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He will also provide input to the Premier division side as a senior assistant to Jon Hayres.
Numbers are looking good at this point in time with them due to swell once the beginning of March rolls around and things get to the pointy end of preseason. More on the players in the next newsletter.
We have 3 practice matches scheduled, the first of which is this weekend 1/3/14 – we travel to Dick Burwell Oval, Nelson Bay Road, Nelson Bay to trial against Terrigal. The game is scheduled to begin at 2.30pm.
The following weekend there is a game against Pennant Hills at Blacktown International Sports Park;
Game times for 8/3 at BISP are;
10am 3’s/4’s vs Sydney Uni 6 x 15 minute qtrs.
12.30pm Reserves vs Pennant Hills 4 x 17 minute qtrs.
2.30pm Under 19’s vs Pennant Hills 4x 17 minute qtrs.
4.30pm Premier division vs Pennant Hills 4 x 20 minute qtrs.
with the final game March 22 against UNSWES to be played at Mahoneys Reserve Marrickville.
Game times for 22/3 are;
8.00am Under 19’s vs TBA
10.00am 3’s vs TBA
12.00 noon 4’s vs UNSW 4 x 20 minute qtrs.
2.00pm Premier division vs UNSW 4 x 20 minute qtrs.
4.15 pm Reserves vs UNSW 4 x 20 minute qtrs
The first social event for the year will be the Season Launch on Thursday 27th March at Gore Hill Club Rooms. There will be a Spit Roast held at the club to celebrate the impending start of season 2014. This is a great opportunity to meet the new players, coaches and reacquaint yourself with the playing group and the club community.
There is an early bird discount for payments received in February of $25
For payments between 1/3 and 13/3 the cost will be $30
And for payments 14/3 to 20/3 $35 – so get in early and book your place.

I have also attached the season draw for your reference, please note that we are away the first two rounds with our first home game in Round 3 against Manly.
We have some new faces on the committee for this year as well, with loads of new enthusiasm and ideas. Please feel free to approach any committee member or myself if you have any questions or concerns that need addressing.

The club is fortunate to still have Sue and Michael Lynch as our welcoming officers, they are the point of reference for any new players and families, and we thank them for their ongoing support.
There will be a “Kid’s Corner" set up this season to cater for the ever growing number of babies and toddlers that will be around now and in the future. So make sure that you pop in and have a look at the setup.
We have a new communication tool this season, it is called Team App - supporters can join Team App, either on their PC, Tablet or mobile and are encouraged to do so. Now that the majority of us use a smart phone of some description this is a perfect way to keep up to date with club happenings.
