St. George AFC was founded in1928, and has survived wars and economic depressions and recessions to still be regarded as one of the Premier Clubs in the Sydney AFL competition.
Achievements on a club and personal basis have been many and varied. From winning five First Grade premierships, nine Reserve Grade premierships, and 19 Under 18s premierships, through to numerous best and fairest and leading goal kickers in all three grades.
Many players and officials have received recognition for their contribution to the game in NSW. Bob Sterling, who is still active in the club, was inducted in to the Sydney AFL Hall of Fame in 2010. Two other notable members, Bob McConnell and Syd Felstead, also achieved Life Membership of NSW AFL for their contribution to not only St. George but also the development of Australian Rules throughout Sydney and NSW.
Many ex-St. George players have been drafted in to successful AFL careers including Mark Roberts (Sydney). Nick Davis (Sydney & Collingwood), and Dylan Addison (Western Bulldogs).
More recently ex-St. George players Lloyd Perris, Nick Shipley, & Jake Brown has been drafted by AFL clubs in the AFL draft.
