It was a weekend that saw club historians reaching for their books as the Nor-West Jets completed a home “Blue Rinse”with wins in all grades and at the end of the weekend all sides were sitting in 5th spot in their respective divisions. With finals looming it is a fantastic effort by all grades to still be in with hunt for September action.
The u18’s started off the day with a massive win over the Holroyd-Parramatta Goannas by 112 points. The now dubbed Cessna’s played a solid first half and opened up a 42 point half time lead. With the continual improvement in the ruck of Sunday Achiek the Jets really turned the screws in the second half and with Nick Edwards back on the rise helped the team restrict the Goannas to 1 goal in the second half whilst kicking 12 themselves. With many highlights for the game it was the first career goal to Musa Bakan that bought the most enjoyment to the boys who put in a solid team performance which included 13 individual goal scorers.

The reserves managed to just get over the line in their clash with the Goannas on Saturday. The Jets skipped out in the first qtr and opened up a 13 point lead at the first break with Simon Jay and Mitch Watkins starting solidly but the Goannas fought back in the 2nd term and reduced the margin to 1 point at the main break. With Scott Longman a welcome edition back in for the Jets and Adam Newton and Peter Richardson ever relentless the Jets held the same 1 point lead at ¾ time and the game was there for the taking for the side who wanted it most. The last qtr only saw a goal apiece to each side with the Jest managing to also kick a behind which in the end opened up the margin to 2 behinds which would be the final margin. In a best on performance for the Jets Chris Kyle kicked 6 goals for the day.

The Seniors after a slow start in the first half produced a clinical effort in disposing of the Auburn Tigers by 185 points to complete the Bensons Lane clean sweep. In a standard 1st half the Jets skipped clear and never looked threatened but the Jets were not playing to their full potential. After providing some massive efforts this season the Jets backline strangled the Tigers forwards and were happy to see their forward line click into gear to open up a healthy halftime lead. But the change in the game came at halftime as coach Ollington reminded the Jets about keeping their structures and being direct with the footy and the senior players having plenty to say at the break about the first half performance. With Ash Condon and Paul Webster giving the Jets on ballers 1st class delivery from the ruck the 2nd half demolition began and with Ryan Johnston leading the way in the centre , the Jets were taking full toll from the middle and with an open forward line the Jets proceeded to pile on the goals which resulted in the Jets having 12 individual goal scorers many of them being multiple & included skipper Johno for his 1st of the season. Ethon Coombes from the u18s had his best game for the year playing up in the seniors and Michael Grey continued his good form but the most pleasing aspect was the team & self-discipline the Jets showed in a game that could have just plodded along.
