A dominant display by young gun Centre Half Forward Connor Moore and a powerful 4 goal haul by Ruckman/Forward Paul Webster has seen the Nor-West Jets defeat arch rivals Penrith by 52 points at Bensons Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The Jets improved their record to 3-3, recording a solid four quarter win against cross-town rival Penrith. Penrith's dismal road record surfaced once again with the Jets stamping their authority on the game from the outset. Moore, who has stepped up in his first season of senior footy, looked right at home at Half Forward. Matched up against Divison 1 key defender Max Mcnamara, Moore led hard and provided a target for the midfielders, while his strong marking was causing problems for the Rams.
Midfielders Tom Roberts and Kyle Clarke who both played their best games this season, gathered plenty of the ball. Clarke's hard running to space and skill was outstanding and Roberts who stood up and controlled the centre, provided plenty of drive in and around the stoppages.
By the end of the 2 quarter the Jets held a 26 point advantage.
At half time Nor-West were instructed to tighten the screws and begin to take the game on and in the 3rd term, that's what they did. Daniel Guthridge continued his fine form this season reading the play and being as solid as ever in defence, whilst Harry Stever continued where he left off in the first half, owning the outer wing giving plenty of run and going hard at every contest. The brothers Chris and Peter Kyle were uncanny in the forward line, seeming to find each other on numerous occasions throughout the game kicking two goals a piece.
After Moore took a towering mark and goaled from 45 meters the Jets took a match winning lead of 47 points into the three quarter time break.
In the last, Penrith showed some fight going goal for goal for most of it, but the Jets proved too strong winning every quarter. Paul Webster finished the game as he started as did a host of others and by the games end the Jets ran out easy winners.
