Spread far and wide the Jets recorded 2 out of 3 wins for Rnd 9 in the last round before the Queen’s Birthday long weekend bye.
The U18’s had the shortest trip with a journey along Windsor rd to play the Hills Eagles at Bruce Purser. With the Jets shooting out of the blocks they had kicked 5 majors in the 1st qtr to lead by 19 points at qtr time. Even after kicking 4 goals in the 2nd qtr the Eagles had kicked 5 and the Jets were holding a 14 point lead at halftime. First gamer Musa Bakan showed plenty of promise and improvement as the game wore on and the Jets kept the Eagle goaless in the 3rd and then went on to record a 4 goals win. In a pleasing sign the young Jets had 8 individual goals scorers with one of those being Nick Edwards in his first game back after along lay off, welcome back Nick.

The Jets Div 4 team travelled south to Taren Point to face the Southern Power on their track, and with the Jets winning the first leg in Round 4, they knew they’d be in for a tough game at Gwawley.
With torrential rain greeting the boys when they arrived in the Shire, it proved to be a slog in the first half with the Power showing the Jets how wet weather football should be played, with the home team welcoming former 1st Grade captain Cameron Roe & hardman Brad Cavanagh to their squad, adding some much needed experience, something the Jets had trouble containing. 2 goals to nil in the first term saw the Jets cop a spray from the coach, who asked for better ball control and more desire to win the pill. Jesse Pinder was in superb form in the centre, adding silky smooth skills to his brutal repertoire, as he was unable to be stopped by the home side. Adam Newton and Matt Brophy were pillars of strength in the defensive half, as they held many attacking raids at bay, with Brophy curtailing the dangerous Ryan Libbis. The Jets added one of their own through Scott Allan in his 99th game, who has hit a purple patch in recent times in the ruck and up forward. The Jets were peppering the goals in the first half but with only one goal to show for their endeavour, they faced a 5 goal deficit at the long break.
In a promising sign for the future at Bensons Lane, the 18s quartet of Harry Stever, Jarred Coull and Seb Goldrick, all of whom had played earlier in the Cessna’s defeat of Sydney Hills Eagles, each made their own mark on the game in the third, Stever & Coull showing mental toughness in the middle and Goldrick sharing a tagging role on Roe and remaining composed throughout. It was only 1 goal each in the third, and still with a faint hope of victory if they applied themselves, the Jets set about changing the tempo of the game to their advantage, led by Kane Russell, Steve Steaszek, who limited Roe’s impact in the last, and Brett Carroll around the centre, and a fantastic debut game for Brent Moncrieff on the wing, who tackled and harassed his opponent almost to the middle of a busy Taren Pt Rd, but to no avail, as the Power evened the ledger in the West Side Story Cup,

The Seniors went down the M7 to take on the Camden Cats and after a tight battle the first time they played the Jets were out to even the ledger. 10 minutes before the game started the heavens opened and barring an occasional lull it remaind that way for the entire day.
The Jets took full advantage of a dry light footy and kicked early goals in which would be a telling qtr of footy as from then on it was classic wet weather football. Doing all it took to continue pushing the ball forward Matthew Smith & Johno Dowl were working hard through the middle of the ground and Daniel Graham took advantage of the early entries to put himself on the score sheet. Halftime saw the Cats leading after dominating the 2nd qtr but in what proved to be one of the Jets finest qtrs of the season the 3rd saw the visitors kick 3 goals to zero and stick to the instructions at halftime which gave them a 16 point 3 qtr time lead. With backmen David Clinch and Jebal Williams leading the way with classic wet weather attack on the football the Jets worked tirelessly in the final qtr and with Camden kicking the only 2 goals of the qtr the desperation from both teams was of the highest intensity but it was the Jets who came away the victors by one goal on a day weather wise that Sydney AFL has not seen in quite a while. The change rooms after the game was the brightest part of the day and with Ethon Coombs & Pete Martinoli enjoying their first seniors victory the Jets song was left echoing in the Camden rooms
