It is with great pleasure that the club can announce that all four grades head coaching positions have been finalised for the 2012 season. The coaching panel for 2012 will be:
- - Jon Hayres, Senior Coach
- - Ash Naylor, Division 1
- - Nick Adams, Division 4
- - Jamie O’Dell, Under 18
Following the announcement back in October of Jon Hayres as the new Senior Coach, the final piece of the coaching jigsaw slotted into place this week, with the announcement that the Division 4 coaching role had been successfully filled with Nick Adams taking on the role.
This is a great outcome for the club and the Division 4 players, with Nick being a life member and current treasurer of the club (more money for the Div 4 team?). With more than a decade of service as a player, Nick will be able install the club culture with the new players as they arrive at the club for their first season. Nick will be able to lead and direct from the field, as he will still be pulling on the boots and snapping goals from the boundary line.
Ash Naylor will be coaching the reserve team, in the competitive Division 1 competition. Ash has been playing at North Shore since 2005, after moving up from Victoria where he played in the strong Geelong Football league. Ash had a season ending knee injury mid way through last season. Through succession planning, Ash took on an assistant role with the Div 1 team, before being handed the reigns as coach for the last three rounds of the 2011 season.
Jamie O’Dell will coach the skilful Under 18 team for season 2012. Jamie first played with North Shore in 2001 in the Under 18’s. In over ten years at the club, he has won many team and individual awards , as well as captaining the reserve team in 2005 at a young age. Jamie’s focus will be on preparing the Under 18 players to be able to make the step up into the senior football ranks and develop future leaders of our senior teams for years to come.
