Dear members and supporters,
I am pleased to advise that after undertaking a thorough review of our coaching requirements, your club has appointed John Hayres as its new Club Coach.
John comes to us with a strong sporting background. He originally played with Old Brighton in the very strong A Grade amateur competition in Melbourne where, after retiring, he was an advisor to the coach. He was also a high quality cricketer, having played Grade cricket, making the Shield squad for Victoria.
Since shifting up to Sydney, in recent years he has been an assistant coach at UNSW-Easts and in this season just completed was Director of Coaching at St. George. John has also been actively involved as a coach with both the Sydney Swans Academy and the AFL Talented Player Program. He came to us highly recommended
John believes, and we agree, that he had undertaken some very good preparatory work in readying himself to become a senior coach. John’s strengths lay in his game planning, his considerable success in developing younger players and his communication skills and we look forward to him apply all of that, plus more, as we continue to develop our football pedigree.
John is eager to engage with the playing group as soon as possible. To this end pre-season training will commence on Tuesday, 22ndth November at Gore Hill. A players meeting will also be held prior to this. Details to be provided soon.
We welcome John to our club.
