The senior match was postponed to June 11 at Bensons Lane at 2.10pm due to a ground closure, while the reserves match was cancelled due to circumstances beyond the club's control........
Here is what The Scoop had to say.....
Games this weekend @ Bensons Lane, Div 2 v Camden and Div 4 v Mac Uni have been cancelled due to wet stuff falling from the roof.
Fair dinkum.
To prevent colds, sniffles and running mascara, the councils in their wisdom have closed Bensons Lane, forcing players to either spend time with the cheese n kisses & ruggies, hit RGs with their flatulent ambience, or head to Stand Alone Saturday @ Hawkesbury races.
Div 2 game is re-scheduled for June Long Weekend, while the Div 4 game has been cancelled, not to be replayed.
I remember those days when wet footy was played, when General was 'splashed' across the back page of the Gazette, mud everywhere, legs akimbo.......and that was at Jupes. Aaaaah. Wouldn't happen in my day.
Get to training Tuesday & Thursday.
Now I have time to write a new article on Yakobi Berrance.
SCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!
And Jonty the Jet.....
THE Nor-West Jets missed out on a crucial opportunity to resurrect their stuttering AFL Sydney season at the hands of the Hawkesbury Sports Council on the weekend.
The local governing body made the inexplicable but predictable decision to close Bensons Lane, among many of the Hawkesbury’s other sporting grounds, and the decision cost the Jets’ important matches against Camden in Division Two and Macquarie University in Division Four.
The final decision was made on Friday morning, and the fine weather on Saturday made the decision even more frustrating, especially as the Jets have a back-up ground they can use to protect the main field from the perceived danger of surface damage.
The Camden match has been rescheduled to June 11 at Bensons Lane, while the Mac Uni clash has been officially abandoned.
With the reserves having a bye this week, they will go into round six on May 14 having not played since April 9, while the seniors will this week make the trip across to Penshurst to meet St George on Saturday at 12pm.
