NOR-West Jets will go "back to school" in an effort to recapture form in the run home to the finals.
The Jets, who are in eighth place, went down to Sydney University by 67 points last Saturday and face a tough final seven games.
Over the next four weeks we play two of the top teams," coach Brendan Howden said.
If we approach these weeks correctly, we can set ourselves up for a mini finals series of our own in August.
"That is Sydney Uni at home, Parramatta at home, Manly away and the Magpies at home. All these sides are middle of the table at the moment and fighting for a position in the finals.
"We should go back to school on our game, our attitutude and our numbers over the next month to set ourselves for a huge effort in the last month."
The Jets went into last week's game with four players backing up from reserve grade.
"Our depth was always going to be stretched as the four players sitting on the bench had
already played a full game. Interchanges were kept to a minimum," Howden said.
"The final score looked a blow out but was not really a true indication of the competitiveness of the game. There is no doubt the Jets were the equal of their opponents around the ground."
Both teams had 13 scoring shots in the first half but the Jets' inaccuracy (five goals, eight behinds) meant they trailed by 25 points.
Fraser Thomson starred in his new role at centre half back and, together with Nathan Holland, provided terrific rebound into attack.
Spearhead Jimmy Lavery battled two, and sometimes three, opponents in marking contests but never ceased to provide a strong target for his team.
Jason Kemp and new recruit Travis Bates were also dangerous up forward.
Final Scores: Sydney Uni 21.9 (135) defeated Nor-West Jets 9.14 (68).
Goal Kickers: Jason Kemp (2), Jimmy Lavery (2), Travis Bates (2), Andrew Spring (2) and Peter Kyle.
Best Players: Fraser Thomson, Mick Earl, Nathan Holland, David Blyth, Jimmy Lavery and Travis Bates.
