SENIORS MATCH REPORT V HOLROYD-PARRAMATTA GOANNAS
THE Nor-West Jets received a painful indicator of the step up between
Second Division and First Division when they crashed to a thumping 82-point
loss to Holroyd-Parramatta in the season opener at Greystanes on Saturday.
The Jets started well, kicking the first three goals of the match, but all
it served to do was give them the false impression that this would be another
walk in the park, and when the Goannas woke up, the Jets had no answer.
Down by four points at the first change despite two early goals to St Clair
recruit Fernando Abba Lobendahn and one to Matt Lozza Laurance, the Jets started to fall
behind in the second term with the Goannas kicking three goals to one to take
a 20-point lead to half time.
However, it was after the break that it got really ugly, as Nor-West failed
to kick a goal in the second half while conceding nine as Holroyd-Parramatta
romped to a 16.16 112 to 4.6 30 victory to keep their undefeated record
against the Jets intact.
It was the Jets' first defeat in a home and away match since they lost to
South-West Sydney in the final round of the 2004 season and coach Peter Pekay Kyle
paid tribute to the Goannas, who were up for the contest.
"Holroyd-Parramatta has improved 300 per cent on last year," he said.
"We kicked the first three goals of the day but after that we just played
unaccountable footy, we didn't chase, didn't man up and they played a lot of
rebound footy and caught us on the attack.
"It was a wake up call, but it was what I was expecting from First Division
footy, being faster, cleaner and more consistent, and after we got a good
start a lot of blokes thought it would be the same as the past two years.
"It brought us crashing back to Earth, which is probably not a bad thing -
we weren't switched on and were probably a bit more cocky than we usually are."
Nick General Milkins was one player who could hold his head high with a starring
role for the Jets, while recruits Jake Plums Berry and Stephen Stav Davidson showed they
will be good pick-ups.
Brad BK Kimber, Pete Williams and Damian Browndog Brown were others to keep trying all
day as things went from bad to worse, while Lobendahn also had plenty of the footy.
Another downside was a calf injury to Adrian Wombat Wagner which will sideline him
for at least one match, while Luke Mini Boc Williams was taken to hospital with facial
injuries after being ironed out by an over-agressive Goanna.

RESERVES MATCH REPORT V HOLROYD-PARRAMATTA GOANNAS
THE return of the Nor-West Jets's reserves to the playing arena also didn't
go as planned, with Holroyd-Parramatta running away with a 66-point win.
The Jets also started well, but were soon overrun by a physically larger
opposition to go down 14.19 103 to 5.7 37.
Despite having six players on the bench at the start of the match, the
condition of the ground caused problems and the Jets were down to the bare 18
by midway through the match as injuries took their toll.
But there were plenty of good signs, with the four Jets who were playing
their first game of Australian Rules football all featuring prominently in
the best seven players.
Tavis Tav Shaw was outstanding on a wing, Dean Thorpey Thorpe starred in the ruck and
around the ground, Chris Collo Collins settled into centre half back with aplomb
and Aaron Bayney Bayne was impressive out of defence.
Aaron's father Rod Rocket Bayne, playing his first match in 10 years was also good,
working hard in defence and going forward to kick a late goal.

U/18's MATCH REPORT V PENNANT HILLS DEMONS
IT WAS a clean-sweep of disappointing defeats for the Jets, with the
Penrith/Nor-West RamJets under 18s suffering a 112-point hammering at the hands of
Pennant Hills at Pennant Hills.
RamJets were never in the contest, failing to score in the first quarter and
only having one behind on the board by the final change, and despite fighting
the match out in the last term, it was only poor kicking from the Demons that
prevented a much bigger margin, with Pennant Hills winning 16.27 113 to 1.5 11.
Sam Lockhart kicked the goal for RamJets, while Steven Albee, Joshua Anasis,
Tayt Corless, Luke Williams and Cameron Lefoe all tried hard.
This week the Jets play their first home match of the season, with all
teams at home to the Southern Sharks, another team who lost in round one.
The Jets will unfurl their premiership flag before the senior match on what is being billed as Sponsor's Day, with all club sponsors invited to head to down to Bensons Lane and take in a bit of Aussie Rules hospitality.
