It was a great night for the Nor-west Jets at the Sydney AFL Best and Fairest night at Doltone House, Jones Wharf, Pyrmont. The Nor-West Jets had something to celebrate after the season that got away.
Aaron 'SNOWY' Clayden tonight won the Division 3 Best & Fairest, he finished 10 votes clear of Mark Dixon from UNSW/ES. Snowy had an amazing 9 Best on Grounds in Rounds 4,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 & 17 and was second BOG in 18 to current club champion Jack Pascoe. Snowy also won the League Leading Goalkicker. Gerard 'Smitsy' Smits was our next best Jet, he finished sixth in the count. Sadly we have to say good bye to these two Champion Players. Smitsy has hung up the boots after an outstanding career with the Jets which included 4 SHIPLEY MEDALS (1st Grade Best & Fairests) and enjoyed 2 Premierships. Snowy is also departing the Jets for a posting to Katherine, Northern Territory. Aaron, Kylie and their Kids will be sadly missed by all at the club and we wish them all the best.
Earlier in the night in the Armstrong Medal Count (Division 4) the Jets had 4 players in the Top Six with Adam 'Elmo' Newton and Marty 'Chook' Ingham on 10 votes, Chris 'Grafy' Graf on 11 and the best placed Jet was Captain Chris ' Junna' Collins on 12 only 3 votes behind the winner Robbie Morrison from Moorebank Sports.
