Official Match Report
A wet and cold morning at Markham reserve. The game began with some simple long kicks up the field which were met with long kicks back from the opposition down the field. Once the boys warmed up a bit more the plays began to take place with more solid runs and dodging and weaving by individuals. After conceeding 2 goals at the 23rd and the 25th minute mark in the first half, the battle would continue well for Ashburton in the second half. A goal came to Shawn whhich was a direct kick back into goals on the full in receipt from the goal keeper. The goal keeper did the same kick out twice and it landed on the full both times at the foot of Shawn. So the first one, Shawn missed the goal and that was used as practice. Then low and behold, the kick went exactly to Shawn again and he didn;t miss again having sharpened his range. Our second goal came from two solid kicks by Clancy. His first solid kick at goals resulted in the ball sliding across a puddle and stopping dead. He collected his composure as soon as he could believe his eyes and sprinted and smashed the ball again out of the puddle into the back net for our second and last goal resulting in a draw agains the evenly matched Kew. Thanks for the game.
