Official Match Report
The u13 girls welcomed Oakleigh Cannons to JL Murphy. With only 7 available players we were very grateful for the support of Lucette, Olivia, Isabella and Tiffany all from the u12’s who were all playing 2 games back-to-back after completing their own fixture immediately before ours.Parkers were awarded an early penalty which (u13) Olivia calmly converted, but the visitors quickly levelled before scoring again to see us trail 2-1 at the break.
All of the u12 girls were proving up to the challenge and Tiffany put on the goalkeeping gloves for the second half making several good stops. A shot from Olivia looked to have crossed the line for a Parkers equaliser but the goal wasn’t immediately given - amid the confusion an alert Chloe removed any doubt by firing in the loose ball for 2-2.
A typical Olivia burst and fine finish then sent us into the lead late in the game, before the visitors equalised again to end an exciting game in a 3-3 draw.
Huge credit - and thanks again - to the u12 girls who all performed very well, and also to the u13’s for their spirit as a group in testing times and for trying to continue to play in the right way.
Big thanks also to the support we’re receiving from across the MPFC girls teams (TM’s and coaches included) as we continue to deal with depleted numbers; the willingness to rally around really emphasises the collective strength and health of the girls program within the club. Go Parkers!
