G'day everyone, Coaches reports from this weekends games are below. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the coaches, managers and committee for the behind the scenes hard work to get the teams on the park especially late notices changes on Friday. Well done to Hopey coaching his first senior game, and to Shaun Wicken captaining his first senior win. - Brad
Div 2 vs - Wollondilly
A really tough fought win by the div 2 guys, finishing the game with 19 fresh players in a 27 point win. We controlled the game for most of the match and played with good intensity and enthusiasm. Sheldo kicked 5 goals up forward in a dominant display but our best were Bo, jb, Hayden Rapley, Cairnsy, Isaac , and the Wicken brothers, but every player played their role to perfection.
Next week will be a tough ask against premiership favourites north shore at gore hill but if we play with the same passion as yesterday we will give a good account of ourselves.
Div 4 vs - East Coast
It was a tough day at the office for the ressies. We were undermanned and a long way from home at rouse hill against east coast
We went down by 96 points in the end, but the effort and commitment to the contest could not be faulted. Notable performances were Kane Russell who worked tirelessly in the midfield, Aaron Stabb was outstanding in the ruck and at centre half back. Brian Currant was also one of our best, being asked to play all over the ground.
Overall there are some positives to come out of the first round, and a lot of work to be done to improve for round two
U19s vs St George
The under 19's took on St George is what was going to be a good test for the team. Playing with a full squad ( 11 from each club ).
The boys came out hard and lead from the start to finish running out winners by 96 points. With 5 players to come back into the team it shows what depth there is . The backline was stronger only giving up 29 points for the whole game. The midfield controlling the ball, not giving St George much of chance. The forwards presented and lead hardkicking a handy 19 goals between them. In the end a great team effort considering as a team they have had one training run. Final score St George 4.5-29 to South West Cats 19.11-125.
