Senior Grade
It was Old Boys' Day at Greygums, and Senior Grade looked on track for another heartbreaking loss, being 13 points down at three quarter time in a low scoring game. But a surge of 5 goals in the final term, led by Jamed Devlin (5 majors) gave the side a memorable and well-deserved win.

Match Report - Round 15 versus the Macquarie University Warriors
On a cool blustery day at Greygums Oval we commenced our match against Macquarie University knowing that a win would secure our spot in the 2014 finals series. We had been belted by Macquarie in our last meeting having gone into that game missing a number of players. We felt given that we were close to full strength this time around that we were more than just a good chance of knocking them off.
With Macquarie gaining first use of the strong breeze in the first quarter they got out to a handy lead before the young Rams produced a goal against both the flow of play and the breeze to head into the quarter time break 14 points down. There were some key areas addressed at quarter time with the players instructed to be more accountable for their direct opponents and to focus on improving our disposal by foot in order to capitalise on the use of the breeze. After a 4 goals to 2 quarter the Rams had a 1 point lead at half time.
With Macquarie Uni about to get their second turn with the breeze the players were instructed to dig deep play one on one and slow the play down and use the defensive side of the field whenever possible to restrict the Warriors use of the ball. The players committed themselves to the task playing a superb quarter into the breeze restricting Macquarie to 2. 3 for the quarter whilst kicking 2 goals of their own. The Rams now trailed by only 2 points at three quarter time and were confident in the knowledge that they had use of the breeze in the final term. In a solid display of team football the Rams steam rolled their way to a 3 goal victory kicking 3.3 in the blustery conditions to the Warrior’s solitary behind.
On a day when everyone played extremely well young gun Pat Pope was clearly best on ground. Ben Skinner was not far behind with an outstanding display of rebounding football off half back. Jacob Field was sensational through the midfield with his run and pressure a key to our success. Adrian Boelhouwer played his best game for the Rams showing explosive speed and superb skills in the difficult conditions. Hard nut Daniel Buckley was also superb in defence and big man Ethan King played a great game clearing a path for his smaller team mates in a strong display across half forward. Young ST Clair Crow wingman Billy Shipley was superb on debut using his pace to full effect to gather a stack of possessions and boot a goal. Nepean Rams U17 star forward Nick Hocking was also instrumental to the win booting 3 goals in a classy display
Goal Kickers: A. Boelhouwer , J. Rix , B. Skinner , A. Quicke , J. Field , W. Shipley , D. Nelson

Bunning’s BBQ
I would like to thank all those players that fulfilled their commitments on the BBQ roster with a special mention to Chris Nolan who completed a double shift. It was a highly successful day with the club making a profit of just over $1,000.
Finals
The club has gate keeping duties for all the lower division finals which is a big revenue raiser for the club. This means manning the entry gates at grounds and collecting the entrance fees. I will be volunteering to help out for at least one of the finals when we are not playing if I could get a few volunteers to help me out on the day it would be greatly appreciated – I’ll do the driving and shout for Maccas!
Div1 debutants
We had two more debutants this week in our captain Jarrod Dowton and his roving partner in crime Dylan Nelson – and they were part of a sensational win knocking off the second placed Div1 side Macquarie University. Well done boys, that brings our U19 total of Div1 players to 10 which is a great percentage with possibly a few more still to debut in the final weeks.
The Week Ahead
We now sit in 3rd spot on the ladder and a win this weekend against the second placed Moorebank could see us end the season in 2nd spot with a double chance heading into the finals so this will be another finals type game with both teams hell bent on taking that finals advantage. Training 6:30 – 8pm both Wednesday 6 August and Thursday 7 August followed by our Saturday twilight game commencing 5pm at Rosedale Oval, Chipping Norton versus Moorebank. All players to arrive at Rosedale Oval by 4pm.
