The Ramettes kick of the day at Trumper Park in downtown Paddo at 10 AM when they take on UTS Shamrocks. It’s the first clash since they met last August and secured a thrilling extra time win at Henson Park that saw the girls head to the preliminary final. Although the side has been very impressive in their two wins over Auburn and Gosford, this is their biggest test to date. The Shamrocks kicked off their season with a 37 point loss to 2013 Grand Finalists, Southern Power before getting on the board the following week against Uni NSW with a 2.10 to 0.0 victory. Penrith will be buoyed by the return of Mel Brydon and with Jessie Burnham up front hungry to repeat last week’s 5 goal haul, are expected to put up a big performance on the small Trumper Park ground

The match of the day is arguably Third Grade in their match against Nor-West Jets. The two unbeaten teams will be looking to keep their unbeaten records intact in what should be a great game. The Jets will be fielding their reserve grade team against the Rams thirds. They looked impressive in their first up win against Sydney Uni, taking the game by 29 points. The Student have since won their next two by big margins. Nor-West then defeated Camden by 40, with Camden bouncing back the next week against UTS, whilst last match the jets jumped to the top of the table on percentages with a thrashing of North Shore. The Rams are without a few key players for this game but will welcome the return of Rob Newham, Lucas Jerzyna, Bryce Roney and Dan Lowe with injured first grade star, Jimmy Denton taking the coaching role with Kev Kirk currently enjoying a lei in Hawaii.

The big day at University Oval, Macquarie Park is opened by the Under 19’s who take on Macquarie Uni Warriors in the 10:30 AM clash. Both teams have a 1-1 record this season, with the Warriors spanking the relegated Southern Power by 44 points in round one at University Oval. However, they could not repeat the dose the following week, going down the Western Suburbs by the same 44 point margin. On the other hand, Penrith were beaten by Wests in round one by, you guessed it, 44 points before scoring a great last minute five point win over Moorebank at Kelso Oval. The team this week includes many talented Under 17’s players from both St Clair Crows and Blue Mountains Kangaroos in what should be an enthralling match.

The following match sees the Reserve Grade team take the field in the Division Three game against the Warriors. The John Rix coached outfit remains undefeated and running second on the ladder with some nailbiting victories. The Warriors cannot be taken lightly despite their 0-2 record. After a first round washout, they fell to Pennant Hills by 22 points before a 79 point loss to Western Suburbs. A return to their home turf and a desire to get on the board will be motivation to put in a big performance. Penrith’s three wins have been tighter than the scoreboard suggests. In their opening match against Pennant Hills, they led by three goals at half time, before running away with a 62 point win. The following week against Balmain, it was again a three goal lead at the long break, fortunate that Balmain’s radar was not functioning in winning by 22 points whilst last week against Gosford, they were down by 2 points at half time, before running away with a 34 point win against the tiring Wildcats. This week sees a few changes in the side, with Ben Katte making his debut, returning players Reece Johnson and Ross Donaldson making comebacks and the talented Liam Murphy returning to the team

The main game at Macquarie University is destined to be a pivotal game for both clubs when First Grade go into battle with the Warriors. It’s been a tough start to the season for the team with three consecutive losses. Despite a shock loss in Round 1 to Pennant Hills and subsequent defeats by former Premier Division clubs, Balmain and Illawarra, the side remains positive that the tide is ready to turn. Mac Uni followed a first round washout with a shock all the way five point win over 2013 premiers, Southern Power at home in round two before going down by 33 points to early favourites, UTS at the Bat Cave in round three. The Rams have struggled with early season injuries and still with some key players out, have named a good side. Dan Smyth makes his first grade debut after some outstanding reserve grade appearances, Matt Laffan returns this week after a Craigieburn Easter with Tom Roberts, Nathan Wright and Ben Robinson also returning. Key players Josh Shephard, Malen Watson, Adam Sharp. George Paneras and Jay Edwards will all be leading the way and determined to put a smile on the face of the vacationing Barry Denton prior to his return to Australia.
