Welcome to the eighth edition of Ramstats, covering the weird, wonderful and sometimes wacky world of the statistics and history of the Penrith Rams AFC.
This edition covers games played on 24th May:
1. Ramettes (Ladies Div 2) v Manly-Warringah - Rd 7
2. Third Grade (Div 5) v UTS - Rd 8
3 Under 19s (U19s Div 2) v Western Suburbs - Rd 7
4. Reserves (Div 3) v Western Suburbs - Rd 8
NB (1): Age Grade refers to combined Under 18/19/20 matches.
NB (2): Quarter by quarter and goalkicking records only exist from 1990 onwards.
NB (3): History v Club records can vary markedly in nature due to the fact that, since 2009, many clubs do not play each other on the same level.

SCORING & MARGINS
SCORING
* Reserve Grade's score of 12.5 (77) was the 12th 77 point score in the history of the club (4 by 10.17, 5 by 11.11, 3 by 12.5), the third this season and the second in consecutive weeks. The Rams have now won 9 times with this score. Most recently before this round, the Ramettes registered the score last week against UNSW/ES at Greygums after it was first scored in 1981 by Reserve Grade against Sydney Uni at McGrath's Hill (Colbee Park).
* Third Grade's score of 15.16 (106) was only the 3rd score of 106 points (2 by 15,16, 1 by 16.10, and the 271st century and over scores the Rams have kicked. Up until 2013 it had only ever been kicked once - by Senior Grade against Bankstown at Greygums in 1991. Then last year it was scored again by Third Grade against Moorebank at Rosedale Oval. Two of the three times 106 points has been scored the opposition has kicked 13.10 (88) - this match and in the 1991 match. All three 106 point scores have resulted in wins by the Rams.
* Under 19 Grade's score of 5.12 (42) was the 14th 42 point score in the history of the club (6 by 5.12, 8 by 6.6) and the second in consecutive weeks this season (after Senior Grade's 5.12 against UNSW/ES). The score was first kicked by Senior Grade against Parramatta at Hyland Road Park in 1984. The story of this and the 1989 Senior Grade score of 42 points can be found in Ramstats 7.
* The Ramettes kicked 99 points, the 7th instance of this score in Rams history (1 by 13.21, 3.by 14.15, 3 by 15.9). This score has been never lost for the Rams. The Ramettes 85 point win was easily the highest ever winning margin with a score of 99 points, the previous best being 57 points by Under 18 Grade against Moorebank at Henson Park in the First Semi-Final of 2009. 99 points was first recorded, in the 14th year of the club's existence, by Senior Grade against Hawkesbury at Greygums in 1994, and before this instance it was most recently scored in the 2009 Under 18 First Semi-Final as above.
WINNING MARGINS
* Reserve Grade's 39 point win was the 6th by the club (3 by Senior Grade, 2 by Reserve Grade, and 1 by The Ramettes). The margin first occurred in 1987, when Senior Grade defeated Baulkham Hills at Kellyville Country Club (and then occurred three weeks later when the Ressies knocked over Liverpool at Greygums) and most recently had occurred last season when The Ramettes defeated Randwick at Windy Park.
* Third Grade's 18 point win was the 12th win by that margin by the club (3 by Senior Grade, 1 by Reserve Grade, 3 by Third Grade and 5 by Age Grade). It first occurred in 1987, when Reserve Grade defeated Baulkham Hills at Greygums Oval and most recently, before this round, last season whenThird Grade defeated UNSW/ES in the mud at The Village Green (coincidentally also in Round 8). Third Grade's 106 is not the highest score the Rams have kicked to win by 18 points - that honour belongs to Senior Grade, who kicked 19,7 (121) to defeat Camden 15.13 (103) at Greygums in the opening round of 2008.
* The Ramettes won by 85 points for the third time in the history of the club. The other two occasions were by Reserve Grade against Parramatta at McGrath's Hill in 1982 and by the Under 18s against Western Suburbs at Wagener Oval in 1996. The 18s actually kicked a lower score than the Ramettes to achieve their win - 13.14 (92).
VENUES
* The Rams played only their 5th and 6th games at Picken Oval, after first playing there in 2011 (Western Suburbs of course prior to that played for many, many years at Wagener Oval). Our record there is 2 wins and 4 losses.. Senior Grade holds the record for the highest score there - 11.15 (81) in 2012.
* The Ramettes recorded a somewhat rare win for the club at Weldon Oval, our record there is 11 wins, 41 losses, with three matches abandoned. In addition, Penrith has forfeited a further four matches there. One of the Rams' losses at Weldon was the club's first ever match, on 11th April, 1981. The Rams actually won the game 13.5 (83) to 7.7 (49), but because the club had been formed at such short notice it fielded some unregistered players and the match was awarded to Manly. The Under 18s hold the record for the highest score at Weldon - 21.9 (135) in 2009.
* Third Grade recorded the club's 10th win at Trumper Park, with 15 losses and a further three losses by forfeit. The club first played there in 1981, when Reserve Grade defeated Uni of NSW. A further 15 years passed before the club played there again, with the Under 18s taking on East Sydney in 1996. The Under 18s' 20.2 (122) in 1998 is the club's highest score at Trumper.
TEAMS
SENIOR GRADE
* Senior Grade had the weekend off this round. :)

* Reserve Grade's record against Western Suburbs now stands at 2 wins and 1 loss.

* Reserve Grade kicked its highest 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter scores against Wests. Its fourth quarter of 4.2 (26) is its second highest in any quarter against Wests (beaten only by its third quarter of 6.1 37 in 2013).
* Reserve Grade passed 29000 points in competition football in this match.
* The Rams have played Wests in three grades and arguably four - Seniors, Reserves, Age and against the Western Wolves in the Ladies.
THIRD GRADE
* Third Grade is now in its fifth season against UTS, the two clubs competing for the first time in 2003.
* The record between the two clubs in Third Grade now sits at Penrith 4, UTS 6.

* This was Third Grade's second win on the trot against UTS - the first time they have achieved this feat.

* Third Grade kicked its best ever first and second quarter scores against UTS.
* This is the most wins Third Grade has achieved in a season (6) since 2004.

* Wests have now won their past five games against the Rams' 18s/19s. The most consecutive games Wests have won against the Rams in this grade is six (8/5/99 to 8/7/06).
* The record between the two clubs in this grade stands at Penrith four wins (incl one by forfeit) and Wests 11 wins.
RAMETTES
- The Ramettes played their first ever game against Manly-Warringah, the 14th club the girls have now competed against.
* 15.9 (99) is the record high score for the Ramettes, easily defeating their previous highest of 11.13 (79) against Moorebank earlier this season.
* Likewise, the winning margin of 85 points is the new Ramettes' high - the previous best being 71 points, again set earlier this season (against Gosford).
* The Ramettes third quarter of 6.4 (40) is their best ever quarter, beating their previous best of 5.3 (33) against Moorebank eariler this season. Their opening term of 5.2 (32) is their third best ever quarter and their highest ever opening term (beating 4.6 30 against UNSW/ES Stingrays earlier this season).
* Penrith has now played Manly-Warringah in all five grades.
RELATIONS & NAMES
* With the debut of Jayden Stevens, he now joins his brother Mitch at the club, who both follow on from their father David, who played for the club as well in 03/04.
* Not a playing combination, but Danielle Dimond, who made her debut for the Ramettes, is the daughter of (much appreciated) club umpire John Dimond.
* And a bit of names trivia. Kayne Quirk and Aidan Quicke are only the third and fourth "Q's" to ever have played for the Rams. And they are the first two "Qs" to ever have played at the same time for the club.
GENERAL
* The club passed 93000 points in competition football in this round.
