Welcome to the fifth edition of Ramstats, covering the weird, wonderful and sometimes wacky world of the statistics and history of the Penrith Rams AFC.
This edition covers games played on 3rd/4th May:
1. Under 19s (U19s Div 2) v Holroyd-Parramatta - Rd 4
2. Thirds (Div 5) v Holroyd-Parramatta - Rd 5
3. Reserves (Div 3) v Randwick - Rd 5
4. Seniors (Div 1) v Holroyd-Parramatta - Rd 5
5. Ramettes (Ladies Div 2) v Moorebank - Rd 5
NB (1): Age Grade refers to combined Under 18/19/20 matches.
NB (2): Quarter by quarter and goalkicking records only exist from 1990 onwards.
NB (3): History v Club records can vary markedly in nature due to the fact that many clubs do not play each other on the same level.

SCORING & MARGINS
SCORING
* Senior Grade's score of 12.7 (79) and the Ramettes' 11.13 (79) the following day were the 13th and 14th respectively 79 point score in the history of the club (1 by 10.19, 5 by 11.13, 8 by 12.7). The most recent time the club had kicked this score was in 2013 by Reserve Grade against Southern Power at Greygumas Oval. Its first instance was way back in 1981 (the club's first season), by Reserve Grade against Campbelltown at Memorial Oval. The club has won ten out of the fourteen times it has kicked 79 points - including the last six times in a row. The most memorable instance was in 1988 when Penrith 11.13 (79) drew with Hawkesbury 12.7 (79) at Whalan Reserve. Blacktown (incarnation no 1) had played in the game before and it was spotted that a couple of their players turned out for Hawkesbury. As this made them unregistered players, Penrith appealed and won the game.
* Reserve Grade's score of 0.4 (4) was the 2nd score of this amount in the history of the club. Its only other instance was by the Under 18s against UNSW/ES in 2012 at Greygums Oval.
* Third Grade's score of 13.13 (91) was the sixth 91 point score in the history of the club (5 by 13.13, 1 by 14.7). The Under 20's first kicked the score in 1982, against Sydney Uni at Sydney Uni. Reserve Grade kicked the most recent instance against Southern Sharks at Greygums Oval in 2001 (with current umpiring legend Mark "Piggy" Steunenberg kicking six majors). 91 points has been faithful to the Rams, never losing for the club.
* The Under 19s kicked 91's next door neighbour - 13.12 (90) - the 10th score of 90 points by Penrith (2 by 12.18, 6 by 13.12, 2 by 14.6). This is the ninth time out of those ten occasions this score has won for the Rams, the only loss coming in Senior Grade's game against South-West Sydney at Dukes Oval in 2003. The 90 point score first occurred in 1987 when Senior Grade defeated Hawkesbury at Greygums Oval (the Rams' first season at Greygums). The most recent occasion prior to this weekend was in 2012, when Reserve Grade defeated UTS at Gipps Road in the Preliminary Final (on their way to the premiership!).
MARGINS
* Senior Grade's 17 point win was the 6th by the club (4 by Senior Grade, 1 by Reserve Grade and 1 by Age Grade). The margin first occurred in 1985, when Senior Grade defeated Liverpool at Sales Park and most recently had occurred in 2013 when the Under 18s defeated Balmain at Greygums Oval.
* Third Grade's 47 point win is the 7th win by that margin by the club (3 by Senior Grade, 1 by Reserve Grade, 1 by Third Grade and 2 by Age Grade). It first occurred in 1984, when Senior Grade defeated Mount Druitt at Whalan Reserve and, before this weekend, most recently occurred when Reserve Grade defeated Nor-West Jets at Bensons Lane in 2011.
* The Under 19s recorded club's tenth 36 point win (2 by Senior Grade, 5 by Reserve Grade, 2 by Age Grade, 1 by Ramettes). It took only 2 years for the first 36 point win to come around (in 1982 when Reserve Grade defeated Sydney Uni at Sydney Uni) and most recently occurred last season when the Ramettes defeated Randwick at Pioneers Park.
* The Ramettes' 64 point win was only the club's third ever by that margin. The only two other occasions were by Reserve Grade, in 1992 vs Bargo at Bargo Showground, then the following season vs Camden in the First Semi-Final against Camden at Whalan Reserve.
VENUES
* The Rams have played 48 games at Gipps Road, after first playing there in 1991. Our record there is 17 wins, 31 losses (and 3 abandoned). Penrith's highest score there is the Under 18s' 27.16 (178) in 2010. Of those 48 games, 8 have been finals (the AFL has used Gipps Road as a finals venue in recent years) - with a record of 4 wins and 4 losses. The most memorable of those finals wins was the Under 18s' Division 2 Grand Final win in 2001.
* The Rams also played - and lost - 6 games at Hyland Road Park against Parramatta in 1983 and 1984. It seems that this is a separate - albeit close by - venue.
* Penrith has now played seven games at Pioneers Park (the ground where the water runner should be required to deliver coffee, tea and hot chocolate rather than water), after first playing there in 2012. The Rams have actually managed two wins there, thanks on both occasions to the Ramettes in 2013. Reserve Grade in 2013, despite losing the game in question, holds the highest score at the ground where the wind never stops - 10.13 (73).
* The Ramettes played Penrith's 63rd game at Rosedale Oval, the most games Penrith has played at the ground of an opposition club. The club's record there stands at 23 wins and 40 losses. The Rams' first game there was 30 years ago, on 18th April 1984. Penrith's highest score at Rosedale is 22.10 (142) by Senior Grade against South-West Sydney in 2005. Included in the 63 games are 11 finals - for 6 wins and 5 losses. Unfortunately 2 of those losses were in grand finals - by Senior Grade in successive years (1987 and 1988) against Liverpool.
TEAMS
SENIOR GRADE
* This is the Rams' 22nd season against Holroyd-Parramatta in Senior Grade, starting way back in 1983..The club has only played more seasons against Hawkesbury/Nor-West Jets (26), Southern Power/Sutherland and Macquarie Uni (24 each).
* This loss breaks a losing streak of three games against Parramatta, the last time the Rams defeated the Goannas being on 27th August, 2011 in the Second Division Second-Semi Final.
* Senior Grade's record against Parramatta now stands at 10 wins and 30 losses, with two matches abandoned.
* The Rams have competed against Parramatta in all four male grades.
RESERVE GRADE
* This is Reserve Grade's 3rd season against Randwick, the two clubs first meeting in the 2010 season.
* Reserve Grade's record against Randwick now stands at 2 wins and 2 losses. After winning its first two matches against the Saints (not at Pioneers Park), Reserve Grade has now lost its last two (at Pioneers Park).
* The Rams' score was its lowest against Randwick and its losing margin was its highest.
* Randwick kicked its highest score against Penrith.
* The last time Reserve Grade failed to kick a goal was in successive weeks in 2007, against the Southern Sharks and Macquarie Uni - two clubs the Rams have defeated this season!
* And just to show how things can turn around:
- Round 1, 1998 at North Dalton Park in Senior Grade - Wollongong 28.15 (183) d Penrith 4.3 (27). - In the return match at Greygums Oval (Round 11) - Penrith 9.12 (66) d Wollongong 7.7 (49) (with Jason "Jabba" Bradley kicking 3 goals and that man again - Mark "Piggy" Steunenberg - kicking 2).
THIRD GRADE
* Third Grade is now in its third season against Parramatta, the two clubs competing for the first time in 2012.
* The Rams' record against Parramatta stands at two wins and three losses.
* This win broke a two game losing sequence against Parramatta, the Rams last winning on 15th July 2012 at Greygums Oval.
* This was Penrith's highest score and greatest winning margin against Parramatta.
* Third Grade's 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters were all their best against Parramatta.
UNDER 19s
* This is the 5th season that the club has competed against Parramatta (commencing 2005), the record now standing at Penrith 10 wins and 2 losses.
* This win was the Rams' second in a row after they lost their only two games against Parramatta in 2013.
* Penrith passed 1000 points against Parramatta, the seventh club they have achieved this against in Age Grade football.
RAMETTES
* The Ramettes won four games in a row for the first time in their history.
* The Ramettes played Moorebank for the first time. Moorebank is the 13th club the girls have competed against.
* The Rams have now competed against Moorebank in all grades - Seniors, Reserves, Thirds, Age and Ladies.
* The Ramettes set a new all-time record score, 11.13 (79), beating their previous best of 10.13 73 against UTS at Greygums in 2013.
* The Ramettes' third quarter of 5.3 (33) is their new record score for any quarter.
* The Ramettes kicked the most behinds they have kicked in any quarter with thier 3.8 (26) in the first quarter.
* The Ramettes passed 1000 points in competition football in this match. After averaging 13.14 points per match in their first season, they have now more than doubled that average in their last two seasons to now average 29.58 points per match over their entire existence. Also, their percentage after their first season was 12.96 - it now stands at 47.19.
(The above point is designed to highlight the girls' improvement and development since their first season!).
GENERAL
* The Rams passed 550 on-field wins this round.
* The club recorded 4 wins in the one round for only the third time, and for the second time this season. (see Ramstats 3).
