SCORING & MARGINS
SCORING
* Senior Grade's score of 3.3 (21) was the 11th 21 point score in the history of the club (1 by 2.9, 10 by 3.3). The last time the club kicked this score was in 2006 by Reserve Grade against Sydney Uni at Sydney Uni. Its first instance was way back in 1984, again by Reserve Grade against Liverpool at Rosedale Oval. Unsurprsingly, the club has never won with this score. The loss of 31 points was in fact the smallest loss with a score of 21 points.
* Reserve Grade's score of 10.17 (77) was the 10th 77 point score in the history of the club (3 by 10.17, 5 by 11.11, 2 by 12.5). Its last instance was by Senior Grade against Pennant Hills in 2012 at Greygums Oval. Its first instance was in 1981 (the club's first season), by Reserve Grade against Sydney Uni, at McGrath's Hill. 77 points has been very good to the Rams, winning 7 times out of 10.
* Third Grade's score of 22.15 (147) was actually the fifth 147 point score in the history of the club (2 by 21.21, 2 by 22.15 and 1 by 23.9). Senior Grade first kicked the score in 1985, against Baulkham Hills at Kellyville Country Club, and Reserve Grade kicked the most recent instance against Macquarie Uni at Greygums in 2012. Naturally the club has won all five times with this score.
* The Under 19s kicked the 14th score of 49 points by Penrith (3 by 6.13, 11 by 7.7). This score has acutally now won for the club on five occasions - including the last three times it has occurred. "49" first occurred in 1983 by Reserve Grade against Hawkesbury at McGrath's Hill, and most recently in 2013 by the Ramettes against Randwick at Pioneers Park.
(There have been 13 lower scores than 49 that have won for the Rams, with the Ramettes now holding the all-time record - their 3.6 24 in the First Semi-Final in 2013 being the lowest ever score to win a game for Penrith).
* The Ramettes recorded the club's 14th 72 point score (1 by 9.18, 6 by 10.12, 7 by 11.6). It first occurred in the club's final season at Sales Park, 1986, against St Ives (at Sales Park), and most recently was scored by Reserve Grade against Gosford at Greygums Oval in 2012. The win/loss count with this score now stands at 7 apiece.
MARGINS
* Reserve Grade's 34 point win was the 6th by the club (2 by Senior Grade, 2 by Reserve Grade and 2 by Age Grade). The margin first occurred in 1987, when Reserve Grade defeated Baulkham Hills at Kellyville Country Club, and most recently occurred in 2011 when Senior Grade defeated Sydney Uni at Greygums Oval. Ressies' score of 10.17 (77) is the second-lowest score to record a 34 point win for Penrith.
* Third Grade's 108 point win is the third by the club (1 by Senior Grade, 1 by Age Grade and 1 by Third Grade). The only two other occurrences were in the 2001 season, when the Rams defeated UNSW/ES at Greygums Oval and in 2007, when the Penrith-Norwest Under 19s defeated Macquarie Uni at Greygums Oval.
* Under 19 Grade's 5 point win is only the 4th ever win by that margin by the club (1 by Senior Grade, 2 by Reserve Grade and 1 by Age Grade). It first occurred in 1983, when Reserve Grade defeated Hawkesbury at Sales Park, and most recently occurred when Reserve Grade defeated Moorebank at Monarch Oval in 2011.
* The Ramettes recorded only the club's second ever 71 point win. It took 30 years for the first 71 point win to come around (in 2011 when Senior Grade defeated Manly at Dukes Oval).
VENUES
* The Rams have now played 14 games at Kelso Park. They first played there in 1992, when it was Bankstown's home ground. They played six games against Bankstown from 1992 - 1995 inclusive; then three finals from 2002 - 2005 (Senior Grade 2005 v Manly, Third Grade 2004 v UTS and Under 18 Grade's 2002 winning Grand Final v Wollongong) when the Sydney AFL used it as a finals venue; and finally the five games this round. The total record at the ground is Penrith 9 wins and 5 losses. The Ram's highest score at Kelso is 25.15 165 v Bankstown in 1994 (in a remarkable game where Bankstown kicked 22.13 145).
TEAMS
SENIOR GRADE
* Senior Grade played its first match against Illawarra (then Wollongong) for nearly 10 years - the last time they met was 3rd July, 2004.
* This is the Rams' 12th season against Illwarra (Wollongong), starting in 1994.
* This is not the first time Penrith has met Illawarra (Wollongong) at Kelso Park. The Under 18s defeated Wollongong at Kelso in the 2002 Under 18s Div 2 Grand Final.
* Senior Grade recorded its lowest score against Illawarra.
* Senior Grade's record against Illawrra now stands at 4 wins and 18 losses.
RESERVE GRADE
* This is Reserve Grade's third season against Gosford.
* Reserve Grade recorded its highest winning margin against Gosford. Its previous best was 31 points in 2012 at Greygums Oval.
* Reserve Grade's record against Gosford stands at 3 wins and 3 losses. The for and against between the two clubs is nearly identical - 427 points for and 426 against.
* The Rams' third quarter of 5.4 (34) was its best 3rd term against Gosford.
* Kelso is the fourth different venue Reserve Grade has played Gosford in six meetings - after Greygums, Adcock Park and Blacktown ISP.
THIRD GRADE
* Third Grade kicked its record score. Its previous best was 21.16 (142) vs Macquarie Uni in 2012.
* Third Grade also recorded its greatest ever winning margin, surpassing the 104 point margin against Macquarie Uni in 2004.
* This is the first time Third Grade has won its first three games of the season and the first time any Rams side has done so since Reserve Grade in 2011.
* Third Grade's record against Moorebank now sits at 5 wins and 3 losses, in their fourth season of competition against them (commencing 2003).
* Their first, second and final quarters were each their highest for those quarters against Moorebank, with the final term of 8.5 (53) being Third Grade's second best quarter ever - behind the 10.0 (60) they recorded the previous week against North Shore.
UNDER 19s
* This is the 6th season that the club has competed against Moorebank (commencing 1999, against the then South-West Sydney), the record standing at Penrith 10 wins to 4.
* Penrith has competed against Moorebank (formerly S-W Sydney) in all four male grades.
* The five point win was Penrith's narrowest against Moorebank and its first since 31st July, 2010.
RAMETTES
* This was the Ramettes' first meeting against Gosford.
* The Ramettes won their first two games of the season for the first time.
* The Rams have competed against Gosford in two grades - Reserves and Ladies.
* Gosford is the 12th different club the Ramettes have competed against.
* The Ramettes recorded their second best-ever score, just falling short of the 10.13 (73) scored against UTS at Greygums in 2013.
* 71 points is the Ramettes' greatest ever winning margin, passing the 60 point margn also recorded in the UTS game in 2013.
* The Ramettes scored their highest ever quarter when they scored 4.5 (29) in the first term. They also scored their second best ever quarter in the third term, 4.3 (27). Their previous best quarter was 4.2 (26), again in the UTS game in 2013.
RELATIONS
* Another addition to the siblings club at Penrith. Jonathan Green made his debut for Reserve Grade, joining his brother Nick at the Rams.
* And we now have the third inductees to the father/daughter club at the Rams as well. David Hazell joins his daughter Lauren in playing for the club. They follow Tim and Kayla Badger and Wayne and Kirstie Burcher.
GENERAL
* The Rams have now fielded 100 players in the four male grades in season 2014.
* Penrith won four games on the same weekend for only the second time. This has only been possible in four seasons - in 2003, when the club had four sides and in 2012, 2013 and 2014 (when the club has fielded five sides). The only previous time this occurred was actually on the one day - 22nd June, 2013 at Greygums Oval - when Third Grade defeated UTS, Reserve Grade defeated Western Suburbs, the Ramettes defeated UTS and Senior Grade defeated Sydney Hills Eagles.
* The Rams are currently sitting on 599 wins over all grades of football (including forfeits) - which side will take us to the 600 mark?
