Welcome to the second edition of Ramstats, covering the weird and wacky world of the Rams statistics and history.
This edition covers games played on 5th April:
1. Under 19s (U18 Div 2) v Western Suburbs - Rd 1
2. Ramettes (Women Div 2) v Auburn - Rd 1
3. Thirds (Div 5) v North Shore - Rd 2
4. Reserves (Div 3) v Balmain - Rd 2
5. Seniors (Div 1) v Balmain - Rd 2
NB (1): Age Grade refers to combined Under 18/19/20 matches.
NB (2): Quarter by quarter and goalkicking records only exist from 1990 onwards.
NB (3): History v Club records can vary in nature due to the fact that many clubs do not play each other on the same level.

SCORING & MARGINS
SCORING
* Senior Grade's score of 5.8 (38) was the 22nd 38 point score in the history of the club (1*4.14, 13*5.8, 8*6.2). The last time the club kicked this score was in 2013, also at Mahoney Park, by Reserve Grade against Sydney Uni. Its first instance was way back in 1983 by Reserve Grade against Hawkesbury at Sales Park (with Senior kicking the same score in the very next match that day!). Perhaps surprsingly, the club has actually won twice with this score. The first time was that Reserve Grade game in 1983, with the Ressies winning by 5 points; and the other time was the Under 18s defeating Wollongong at Greygums in 2002.
* Reserve Grade's score of 10.11 (71) was the 14th 71 point score in the history of the club (7*10.11, 7*11.5). Its last instance was by Senior Grade against UNSW/ES in 2013 at Greygums Oval. Its first instance was in 1983, also by Senior Grade against UNSW, at Sales Park. This is only the second time 71 points has won a game for the Rams, the only other time being in 2010 by Reserve Grade against Camden at Harrington Park.
* Third Grade's score of 21.4 (130) was the first ever 130 point score in the history of the club (thanks Thirds boys, another one to cross off the list!). The Rams have only one score under 100 they have never registered - 0.5 (5) - and a further four scores up to and including 150 they have never scored - 132, 137, 144 and 148. (The thirds were obviously inspired by last week's mention of the Under 18s' 20.2 game).
* Under 19s kicked the club's 28th score of 41 points (9*5.11, 19*6.5). It first occurred in 1983, kicked by Reserve Grade against Sutherland at Sales Park. Most recently it occurred last season, by the Thirds against Parramatta at Greygums Oval. Several weeks earlier in 2013, the Ramettes recorded the only win with this score, when they defeated Auburn by 14 points at Greygums Oval.
* The Ramettes recorded the club's 16th 60 point score (2*8.12, 14*9.6). It first occurred in the club's first season, 1981, against Sutherland at Gwawley Park, and most recently was scored by Senior Grade against the same club (now Southern Power) at Greygums Oval in 2013. This is only the third win with this score, the previous two being both by Reserve Grade against Holroyd-Parramatta at Greygums Oval, in 1996 and 2012.
MARGINS
* The Ramettes' 41 point win was the 8th by the club (5 by Senior Grade, 2 by Reserve Grade and 1 by the Ramettes). The margin first occurred in 1983, when Senior Grade defeated Baulkham Hills at Whalan Reserve, and most recently occurred in 2013 when Reserve Grade defeated Mac Uni at the Mac Uni North Oval. The girls' score of 8.12 (60) is the lowest score to record a 41 point win.
* Third Grade's 72 point win is the fourth by the club (2 by Senior Grade, 1 by Age Grade and 1 by Third Grade). It most recently occurred in the opening round of the 2010 season, when the Rams defeatd Sydney Uni at Greygums Oval and first occurred in Senior Grade's unbeaten 1991 season, when they defeated Heathcote at Heathcote Oval.
* Reserve Grade's 23 point win is the 7th win by that margin by the club (4 by Senior Grade, 3 by Reserve Grade). It first occurred in 1986, when Senior Grade defeated Sutherland at Sales Park, and most recently occurred when Reserve Grade defeated Parramatta at Greygums Oval in 2011.
OTHER
* Third Grade's score of 21.4 (130) is the highest final score the club has recorded with four behinds. They smashed the previous record, which was 16.4 (100), scored by the Under 18s against South-West Sydney at Rosedale Oval in 1999.
* Third Grade's final quarter of 10.0 (60) is the second highest "behind-less" quarter the Rams have kicked. The Rams Reserve Grade kicked an opening term of 11.0 (66) vs Hawkesbury at Greygums Oval in 1997. Third Grade's quarter completes the set of "behind-less" quarters up to 11 goals - ie the Rams have now kicked a quarter of all goals from 1 to 11 inclusive without a behind. (Thanks go to Dane Fysh, whose out on the full effort late in the game protected the behind-less quarter. A true clubman!).
* The Rams passed 91000 points in competition football. The club needed five points to reach the goal before the round began, so as the Ramettes and the Under 19's were the first games and they both started at the same time, the two teams can sort out between themselves which one achieved the milestone for the club. :)
VENUES
* The Ramettes' game at Mona Park was the 6th game the Rams have played at that ground. The remarkable thing is that those six games have spanned 27 years (almost to the day, the first game Penrith played there being on 4th April, 1987, when Reserve Grade took on the first incarnation of the Auburn mens' club). Penrith's record there is three wins and three losses. In addition, there have been six other games scheduled there which did not proceed - 4 abandoned and 2 forfeits by Auburn.
* Penrith has now played 14 games at Mahoney Park. The first time the club played there was in 2008 when the Under 18s played UNSW/ES. The club's playing record at Mahoney is now 5 wins and 9 losses.
TEAMS
SENIOR GRADE
* Senior Grade is now in its 32nd season of football.
* This is Senior Grade's second season against Balmain. The two clubs last competed in the 2011 Div 2 Grand Final.
* Senior Grade's record against Balmain now stands at 2 apiece. The four games between the club have been played at four different venues - Drummoyne Oval, Greygums Oval, Blacktown ISP and Mahoney Park.
* Senior Grade recorded its lowest score against Balmain.
RESERVE GRADE
* Reserve Grade is now in its 31st season of football.
* Reserve Grade played Balmain for the first time, Balmain becoming the 29th club Reserve Grade has competed against.
* Penrith has now competed against Balmain in four grades - Senior, Reserve, Age and Ladies.
THIRD GRADE
* Third Grade is now in its fifth season of football.
* Third Grade passed 4000 points in competition football when they kicked their 15th goal.
* This is the first time Third Grade has won its first two games of the season.
* This is Third Grade's first meeting with North Shore, its 13th club competed against.
* 21.4 (130) is the third highest score ever by Third Grade, behind 21.16 (142) vs Mac Uni in 2012 and 19.17 (131) against UNSW/ES in 2003.
* Their last quarter of 10.0 (60) is the all-time individual quarter record for Third Grade against any club, beating 8.2 (50) v UNSW/ES in 2003 (3rd quarter). It is also the highest quarter by any grade in the club since the Under 18s' first quarter of 10.4 (64) in the 2010 Second Semi-Final against Southern Power.
UNDER 19s
* This is the 20th season of the Rams fielding an Age Grade side.
* This is the 9th season that the club has competed against Western Suburbs, the record standing at Penrith 4 wins, Wests 10 wins.
* Penrith has competed against Western Suburbs in 3 grades and arguably 4 - Senior, Reserves, Age and against the Western Wolves in the Ladies' competition.
RAMETTES
* The Ramettes won their first game of the season for the first time.
* The Ramettes are in their third season against Auburn. They have played six times, with a record of Rams 4, Auburn 1 and 1 draw.
* The Rams have competed against Auburn in three grades - Seniors, Reserves and Ladies.
* Six times is the equal most games the Ramettes have played against a club, the others they have played six times are Southern Power and UTS.
* The Ramettes' winning streak against Auburn is now 4 games, the best against any club.
* The second quarter of 3.4 (22) is the Ramettes best in any quarter against Auburn, and equal second best quarter in their history (the all-time best being 4.2 26). They also recorded their best 1st quarter against Auburn.
* The Ramettes recorded their highest score against Auburn.
RELATIONS
Another addition to the siblings club at Penrith. Michael Papageorgiou made his debut for the Under 19s, joining his brother Emmanuel at the Rams.
GENERAL
* The Rams fielded an Under 19s side for the first time. This means that the club has fielded (or had involvement with) sides in Under 18s (1996, 1998-2003 inclusive, 2005-2013 inclusive), Under 19s (2014) and Under 20s (1982, 1989 and 1990).
* Dylan Nelson played three games for the club on Saturday. After playing in the Under 19s, he backed up for both Third Grade and Reserve Grade, kicking 2 goals and 1 goal respectively in the latter two games. Without scouring through the records, which would take far too long, I know of only one other instance of this occurring, which was when John Keane played Under 18s, Reserve Grade and Senior Grade against Wollongong at North Dalton Park in 2003.
* There are only 4 clubs that the Penrith Rams have competed against in all grades (Senior, Reserve, Third, Age and Ladies) - Macquarie Uni, Southern Power, Sydney Uni and UNSW/ES.
* The Ramettes/Under 18s games (which were played at the same time) took the Rams to 1500 scheduled games in its existence. The tally now stands at 1503 - comprising 595 wins, 854 losses, 3 draws and 51 abandoned.
