Ladies (Div 2)
In the only match away from Greygums this weekend, at Mahoney Park, the Ramettes played their final match of the home and away season, in a preview of their upcoming first-semi final. And it was a very tight contest all day, with never more than a kick in it at any break, neither side being able to break clear of each other in a game dominated by the respective defences. In the end, in a finish marked somewhat by controversy, it was UTS which managed to hold on to win by 3 points - signalling to the Ramettes the difficulty they would face the following week.
Goal Kickers: J. Burnham 2, L. Hazell 2, J. Brown
Best Players: N. Camilleri, J. Vella, K. Badger, J. Burnham, I. Olchowik, M. Vella
Third Grade (Div 5)
Third Grade were up against local rivals Parramatta in their final match of the season. Unfortunately the boys were never really in the game, with the visitors taking control early and never really looking threatened. It was a disappointing end to a season which at one stage promised quite a lot. In a topsy turvy year, the thirds lost their first five games, won their next five and then lost the final six.
Goal Kickers: K.Kirk 4, M.Purse, J.Makin
Best Players: M.Pope, B.Shoebridge, L.Donoghue, J.Goscombe, K.Kirk, J.Makin
Under 18s (Div 2)
The Under 18s met to-be-finalists Macquarie Uni in their penultimate match of the season. The visitors moved ahead in the second term, but their inaccuracy in front of goal together with the Rams' straight kicking, still left room for an upset with a quarter to play. Unfortunately the young Rams couldn't continue the momentum, but still battled hard and bravely to eventually go down by 30 points.
Goal Kickers: J. Durham 2, J. Eckford 2, A. Quicke , J. Field
Best Players: A. Quicke, J. Monks, N. Green, Z. Pianta, J. Eckford, J. Durham
Reserve Grade (Div 3)
Reserve Grade were untroubled by a poor Macquarie Uni side. The Rams opened up in dominant fashion, swarming all over the Warriors in the first term, at times goals coming with seemingly little opposition. Whilst Penrith could not match that eight goal term again, and the game tightened up on occasions, the side was never really troubled in recording a resounding 122 point win. In an even performance, 12 separate players shared in the goalkicking spoils.
Goal Kickers: M. Jackson 4, J. Shelley 4, T. Corless 3, B. Robinson 3, L. Geeves 2, J. Sultana 2, B. Roney , N. Rowley , J. Eckford , D. Schroot , N. Collimore , M. Brown
Best Players: M. Cummins, J. Sultana, J. Shelley, M. Brown, C. Triffitt, D. Looyschelder
Senior Grade (Div 1)
The final game of the weekend for Penrith saw Senior Grade also take on Macquarie Uni. In what has to be said was a game which followed a similar script to the previous one, the Rams were never troubled by a disappointing Warriors outfit. The only thing which prevented a similar margin was some wayward kicking for goal by the Rams. Otherwise they were largely untroubled to win by a commanding 77 points in a rather lacklustre contest.
Goal Kickers: N. Wright 3, M. Denton 3, C. Withers 2, T. McNamara , J. Pianta , L. Murphy , J. Ponton , J. Shephard , T. Cummins
Best Players: J. Ponton, J. Edwards, N. Wright, J. Shephard, R. Newham, T. McNamara
