The Rams have every team competing on Saturday with "Old Boys Day" at Greygums which see the 1sts, reserves, thirds and Ramettes at Greygums Oval from 8:30 AM. The 18's head to Manly to take on the Wolves in their first game of the season.
Under 18’s V Manly –Saturday Weldon Oval 10 AM
The young Rams finally hit the track in Round 3 for their first game of the year at Weldon Oval on Saturday. The match against Manly Wolves is expected to be a tight affair with Manly easily accounting for Balmain in the opening round before having the week off with a bye.
Coach Rick Allen has been fantastic getting the team together in pre-season and is expecting the boys to put in a solid performance despite the lack of match fitness.
Angus Ehrl and Liam Veigel both were impressive in the senior debut two weeks ago and are expected to lead from the front along with captain Anthony Leech.
It has been a frustrating start to the season for the Rams, with a bye followed by last week’s unfortunate forfeit by Randwick but they finally get the opportunity to strut their stuff against last year’s grand finalists
Tip: Rams by 8
Div 5 V Camden – Saturday Greygums Oval 8:30 AM
It’s been a tough start to the season for the thirds playing two good sides and the task doesn’t get any easier on Saturday in the opening match of the day when they play Camden. Despite losses to Uni NSW and Southern Power, the Rams have shown good signs but form has been somewhat patchy and they will need to play out the full 88 minutes in this match. Camden are sitting comfortably on top of the table with their strong seconds team after a mammoth win against Moorebank in round 1 followed by last week’s 42 point win win against Sydney Uni.
Tip: Penrith by 2
Ramettes V Randwick Saints – Saturday Greygums Oval 10:30 AM
The Ramettes will be quietly confident of their first win on Saturday against Randwick City after their nail-biting loss last week to top side, Southern Power, by just 7 points. “New Kids on the Block”, Randwick, started their history on a good note, despite losing to a strong UTS Shamrocks outfit and have some very talented and big players on their list and the Ramettes will need to put in 110% to belt out the club song. The loss of captain Jen Brown this week is a big blow to the side along with another couple of doubtful players after last week’s bruising match but the depth this year should hold them in great stead
Tip: Ramettes by 11
Div 3 V Randwick Saints – Saturday Greygums Oval 12:30 AM
The 2012 Div 4 premiership flag will be hoisted at this match as the newly promoted reserve grade side take on Randwick City’s strong first grade team. The Saints look to be one of the premiership favourites this year after their first round 100+ point win against Campbelltown in Round 1 but were bought back to earth last week in a loss to Sydney Uni. They will be keen to avenge that defeat on Saturday against the Rams who are yet to post a win this year. Last week, the Rams got off to a slow start but performed well in the second half against Southern Power and are expected to get off to a better start this week.
Tip: Rams by 10
Div 1 V North Shore – Saturday Greygums at 2:30 PM
The final match of “Old Boys Day” sees the Rams looking to get back on the winners list when they play Premier Division Club, North Shore in the 2:30 clash. The teams look evenly matched in what should be an exciting game. Memories of last year’s loss to the Bombers when firm favourites will be in the minds of Penrith and they will be looking to keep their spot in the top four and registering their second win of the year. North Shore are yet to put any points on the board this year, but have been valiant in defeat. In round 1 they were right in the game against Pennant Hills before the Demons put four last quarter goals on the board to win by twenty. Last week they led for most of the match before falling by just 10 points to St George. A good crowd is expected for the match which begins at 2:30 PM at Greygums
Tip: Rams by 15
