Penrith Rams retained their "top of the table" status on Saturday with a 45 point win over local rivals Nor-West Jets at Bensons Lane.
The Rams had easily defeated the Hawkesbury outfit earlier in the season but it was a harder team that that was out to erase that big defeat and stay in touch with the final five.
Going into the game without the services of Nathan Wright, Jay Edwards and Matt Payne, Penrith were still able to produce a strong squad with Lachlan Smith, Jake Clark and Josh Hall coming into the side.
Penrith statered the game brightly with the forward line sharing the spoils. Dale Chivas, Tim Cummins, Ben Robinson and Blake Roberts all got on the board with a goal apiece and with the Jets able to manage just three behinds for the term, it was the Rams holding a 21 point 1st quarter lead. The Jets found more rhythm in the second term with two majors but Chivas also added two and Roberts kicked his second to edge Penrith to a 29 point lead at the big break.
An injury to captain Dale Chivas at the start of the third term saw his day come to an end but both Josh Anasis and Daniel Schroot were both to produce two goals apiece whilst Jake Shelley booted another to see the side kick away with a 50 point lead.
With the game safely in their grasp, Nor-West got the better of the final term. Lachie Smith was the sole scorer for the Rams whilst the Jets managed to kick two from their three scoring chances but it was again Penrith's day in recording a solid 45 point win.
Daniel Schroot took out the IGA Player of the Match whilst James Denton, having an outstanding debut season with the Rams was the recipient of the Red Cow Award. Nathan Allison and Mitch Reinhard both did plenty of hard work along with backmen Bryce Roney and John Keane. Dale Chivas was a clear standout in an inspirational performance until a sprinkler-head incident ended his day.
Penrith head to Mona Park at Auburn to take on Auburn Tigers, who also had a win over Balmain on the weekend, in next weeks match.

Reserve Grade V Nor-West Jets
On a rare picture perfect day at Bensons Lane, Penrith Reserves were looking to continue their long winning streak when they took on Nor-West Jets. In their Round 8 clash at Dukes Oval, the Jets had given a scare the Penrith and led for much of the first before the home side dominated the second half to record a 38 point win.
It was much the same scenario as the wide-bodied Jets served it up to Penrith and took a six point lead at the first break with some enlightened football. The second term saw the home side continue the form and blow the margin out to three goals before a late Rams six pointer saw them drag back the deficit to nine points at the long break.
Captain Nathan White was not concerned at half time as he reinforced the fact that the Jets were tiring and the side needed to back each other to enable them to get back on top. The Rams opened up in the third term with a 5.5 effort whilst keeping the opponents scoreless in what was the turning point of the game. The jets kicked the first goal of the final 22 minutes to give them some glimmer of hope but Penrith were able to pile on another six goals to run away with the game with a 47 point win to record their 11th win of the season, equalling the clubs record seasons win in this grade.
Jason "Jet" Jackson was the Jets nemesis with another outstanding match and won the IGA Award whilst Nathan Rowley was sensational and took out the Red Cow Inn Award. Nic Collimore grew in confidence as the game progressed and muscled up to his big rivals. Chirs Manuel and Mark Jackson were amongst the Rams best with Gordon Howell again coming from the bottom of the packs with the ball on countless occasions.Jason Bradley held his lead as the competitions leading goalscorer with a bag of four whilst Gordon Howell chipped in with a treble as the Rams multiple scorers.
The shock defeat of undefeated Mac Uni at the hands of Moorebank saw the Rams join their first grade side as competition leaders and will be hoping to retain their ladder lead when they face up to Auburn next week at Mona Park

Under 18's V Western Suburbs
The Rams travelled to Picken Oval today for their much anticipated clash with the Western Suburbs Magpies. It was a tough encounter with both teams giving everything.
The Rams were again slow to start and allowed the Magpies to race away to a 3 goal lead after 10 minutes. The Rams finally got into the swing of things half way through the first quarter when Chris Nolan handballed out from the bottom of the pack to Brayden Wilson who got a quick snapshot away over his shoulder which sailed through for a goal. The Rams gained some momentum and Rick Ooms added another goal for the Rams before the quarter time break and reduced the Magpies lead to 17 points. The second quarter saw a greater commitment to get the footy and the Rams benefited on the scoreboard. Ben Priest was moved into the forward line and had an immediate impact kicking a goal for the Rams. Joe Hunt started the day in great fashion finding space, marking strongly and providing the Rams with the link into the forward line. Greg Major worked tirelessly in defence and won plenty of contested footy. David Looyschelder was solid in the ruck all day and gave the Rams plenty of opportunity with the footy. Ben McGovern started the game in the backline and was instrumental in repelling the Magpies with several strong spoils. He was rested in the forward line in the second quarter and kicked a couple of goals while he was there.
After allowing the Magpies to race away in the first 15 minutes of the game the Rams worked hard and were right back in the game at half time with the Magpies holding on with a slender 3 point lead. The game was there for the Rams to win but they went to sleep at half time and allowed the Magpies to kick away with 3 quick goals in the first 5 minutes of the third quarter. The Rams steadied the ship with a strong mark and goal from Ben Priest and another from George Paneras to give themselves a chance. The margin at the final change was only 2 goals and the Rams had all the hard work in front of them. They came out full of enthusiasm and gave it their best shot. However, the boys started to tire and the Magpies got their tails up and kicked away with 2 goals to put the game out of reach for the Rams.
George Paneras was solid as always and gave everything for the Rams today. Harry Doyle continued his great form and was one of the Rams better players. Rick Ooms floated in and out of the play and chipped in with a goal. James Devlin worked hard all day and again was strong in the marking contests. Liam Murphy had an outstanding game taking several contested marks and providing the Rams with drive across the half back line. Liam led the troops from the front and showed the courage and determination required from the captain. Ben Mayer and Hayden Strong gave it everything in the back half today. Jack Ponton was once again working hard in the midfield. Josh Jenner was prepared to put his body on the line to win the ball and was very effective for the Rams today. Greg Major played a sensational game excelling in all 4 quarters.
The Rams had the footy in the last quarter and although they tried valiantly they could not bridge the gap. In the end, despite a spirited effort from the Rams, the Magpies ran out comfortable 20 point winners.
