There is no break for the Penrith Rams 18's and Firsts as they travel to Olds Park on Saturday to play their postponed Round 4 matches against St George Dragons. With Reserves having the long weekend off, the 18's kick off the day at 10:00 AM whilst First Grade are looking to go to the top of the ladder in their first clash against St George in many years.
Match Preview
The Rams are on a high after last week's clean sweep in all grades and are looking to continue the form this Saturday at Olds Park when they take on St George.
The Under 18's climbed off the floor after two losses when they accounted for Western Suburbs last week at Dukes Oval and now sit in sixth spot on the ladder. A win on Saturday would see them edge closer to a possible finals berth in this all important game.
The Rams got off to a slow start against an undermanned Magpies team before posting a 36 point win and will not be able to relax at any stage against the Dragons. Penrith played St George back in March in a trial match in what was a very even affair, coming out with a narrow victory. Although St George have registered only two wins, they have had some agonising defeats this year, including losses to Riverview by three points and North Shore by two points. Their two wins over Illawarra at North Dalton Park and and 65 point bashing of Uni NSW two weeks ago shows they are a classy outfit and will be keen to avange their 47 point loss against Pennant Hills last week. Supporters are encouraged to get to the 10:00 AM game and cheer the future of the Rams to victory.
First Grade take the stage at midday, coming off a four win streak and a win would see them leapfrog Balmain for the top berth on the Div 2 ladder. The side is gradually getting back to full strength and are looking forward to the clash against the Dragons. St George were victims of current competition leaders last week at Drummoyne which saw them slump to their fourth consecutive defeat and 7th spot on the ladder. Prior to that they had wins over Nor-West, Camden and Moorebank and were riding high on the ladder. This game could be a season defining match for the Dragons and they will be primed up for a huge effort on their home turf.
The Rams have been going from strength to strength in their last four wins after their defeat by Balmain at Drummoyne. With only one win away from home, against Manly two weeks ago, the team will need to put their best feet forward to grab the top spot in what is expected to be an outstanding match.
