Penrith head to northern Sydney this weekend with the 18's taking on North Shore at at Gore Hill at 11 AM whilst the seniors both play Manly Wolves at Weldon Oval, Harbord.
Match Preview
Penrith Rams take to the road this weekend and head to the northern side of Sydney for all matches.
The Under 18's take on North Shore for their second clash this year at Gore Hill Oval and will need to improve on their last week's performance against Illawarra where a tardy start saw them struggle in the first half before a better final 40 minutes gave them a chance of victory. North Shore are also coming off a loss against Riverview, who the Rams defeated a week earlier. Penrith will disadvantaged with the loss of rugged defender Jackson Swarbrick along with Luke Simmons and Joe Hunt all on the injured list but are boosted by the return of captain Liam Murphy, James Devlin, Shaun Stevens and Nick Adams for their 11 AM game.
Manly Wolves are hosting a big five game day at the official re-opening of Weldon Oval after two years of much needed renovation work. Rams Reserves kick off the day at 10:00 AM where they are looking to continue their winning run and maintain a top three spot. Injuries to the senior sides have caused a re-shuffle to the side but the return of Reece Johnson, Alex Henry, Christian Knight, Alex Rogers and Baron Savanah should put them in good stead after last weeks massive win over Auburn. The Rams were comfortable winners against Manly in their first round clash this year but are facing a fired up Manly outfit who also had a big win against the Auburn Tigers earlier in the season.
The first grade clash promises to be a tough affair on the Wolves home turf. Penrith ran out convincing winners in their first meeting this year at Dukes Oval and will be looking to repeat that performance. manly started the season in fine fettle winning their first two matches, but have been winless since, though last week's 10 point loss to Balmain showed they are back on track for the season. The Rams maintained their perfect "home" record this year with a comprehensive win against Auburn Tigers last week and previously took the points against Holroyd-Parramatta. However, they are yet to win an away match after on the road losses to Sydney Uni and Balmain, who are 1-2 on this years ladder. Injuries to the side have seen the promotion of Justin Weller and Tom Hall whilst young Jacob Clarke makes his first grade debut in his first AFL season on the back of some solid reserve grade performances.
