Penrith Rams consolidated their top three spot of the Div 2 ladder on Saturday at Greygums Oval with a comprehensive 29 point win against Auburn Tigers. Auburn kicked the opening two goals of the match in first five minutes of the match but were only able to register another two in the next 80 minutes.
Reserve Grade continued their quest for a flag with a massive 124 point win over the Tigers that sees them hold second spot in the Div 4 competition whilst a slow start by the Under 18's proved costly as they succumbed to Illawarra Tigers by 22 points in the opening game of the day.

First Grade V Auburn Tigers
The Penrith Rams maintained their spot in the top three of the Division 2 competition with a hard fought 49 point victory over Auburn at Greygums Oval. The Tigers started far the better, booting the first two goals of the game as they continued their impressive form after a last start win over Balmain. However, the Rams worked their way into the contest to trail by just two goals at the first change. From here it became one-way traffic, as the home side took the ascendancy, keeping the visitors to just one more goal until deep in the final term.
Penrith’s defence continues to impress, conceding just nine goals in their last eight quarters of football, led by Jay Edwards, Nathan Wright and Bryce Roney. Up forward, John Spicer, Ben Robinson, Josh Anasis and Dale Chivas shared the spoils with two goals each, with Chivas missing out on a bag as he finished with 2.6 and one out on the full.

Reserve Grade V Auburn Tigers
Reserve Grade continued their good form with a 124 point win over the winless Tigers. The only downside of their performance was some wasteful finishing in front of goal, resulting in 11.16 after half time. Tayt Corless finished with 5 goals, whilst Paul Borsato and Jason Bradley booted three. Craig Ives, Nathan Rowley and Nathan Gatt were best for the Rams.

Under 18's V Illawarra Lions
The Illawarra Lions made the long trek to Greygums Oval this week to take on the Penrith Rams after the Rams giant killing performance last week against Riverview. On another picturesque day at Greygums the Rams were looking forward to the challenge and were confident in their ability. The boys knew they would need a good start in the first quarter if they were to win this match.
The Rams started slowly with the Lions dominating play in the first quarter to head to the first break with a 17 point lead over the Rams. The Rams were working hard in the middle with Matt Purse and George Paneras doing their best to win the ball and get the Rams moving forward. The Lions were running hard into their forward line and took advantage of the Rams lazy defence.
The second quarter was more of the same with the Rams restricted to just one goal while the Lions added 3 goals. Greg Major and Hayden Strong worked hard in the last line of defence for the Rams and continually repelled the Lions attack. Brayden Wilson and Harry Doyle were strong in the midfield. The Rams headed into the half time break 31 points down with a lot of hard work ahead of them if they were to win this match.
Jackson Swarbrick came out firing after half time and was brilliant at the stoppages winning several clearances. His efforts got the Rams moving and gave the forwards more opportunity.
Ben Mayer stepped up in the second half and was rewarded for his hard work with 2 goals. Ben Priest was moved into the forward line in the second half also got amongst the goals kicking his first goal for the season. Ben McGovern also made his presence felt up forward with several strong contested marks resulting in 3 goals. Jack Ponton was as consistent as ever running hard for the full 4 quarters and providing plenty of drive for the Rams. Rick Ooms worked hard all day and was effective when moved to the backline in the second half. Tom Noble was solid in defence as always, continually spoiling the Lions attack.
The Rams outplayed the Lions in the second half and outscored them with 6 goals to the Lions 4 and it was a brave effort, however the Rams left their run too late and the Lions held on to win by 22 points.
