Match Preview
The Rams are looking to continue in a winning vein this Saturday at Greygums Oval with high hopes for another "three-peat".
The 18's take to the field in the 10:00 AM fixture and are looking to continue last weeks performance when they take on ninth placed Illawarra Lions. The Rams are currently in equal fifth spot (7th on percentages) and a win keeps them in finals contention. After last week's heroic performance against previously unbeaten Riverview, Rob Murie's colts may have turned their season around after the previous loss to Sydney Uni but they will have to maintain their form against the South Coast visitors. Illawarra caused a major upset in round two at North dalton Park when they thrashed Pennant Hills by 56 points and last start got to within 4 goals of East Coast at Purser and are expected to prove tough opponents. Whilst the winner gets into finals contention, the losing side will drop into the relegation zone.
Reserve Grade are up against Auburn Tigers in the Div 4 match at 12:00 PM. The side had a narrow win last week against Holroyd-Parramatta in windy conditions after putting in a good first half performance but fell away in the second half to get away with the prize by under 4 goals. They will need to concentrate for the full 88 minutes to maintain their high position (currently 2nd) on the ladder. Auburn are fielding a seconds side for the first time this season and have yet to register a win after four outings. However, with many new players in the side, they will continue to improve and cannot be taken lightly.
In the first grade match, Penrith host Auburn's victorius 2010 Div 4 side. After last week's win against the Goanna's, the Rams took hold of third spot with the Tigers only percentage points away. Both teams have 3-2 win records but it is Auburn on a high with their upset win over competition leaders, Balmain, by four points last Saturday. Their previous wins were against Camden and St George whilst Manly and Holroyd-Parramatta have both proved too good for them this season. With both teams being promoted to Div 2 this season, and bolstering their strength with Premier Div players, a tough match is guaranteed and the Rams will not be able to leave anything on the field if they are to take the points.
Players and supporters are encouraged to make a day of it and get to the ground early to support all our teams.
