General
* This weekend's match was the first time Penrith has played Balmain in senior football. Up until this season the club had only played Balmain in Under 18 & Under 20 football.
* Penrith enters its 23rd season vs Macquarie Uni in Reserve Grade, second only to Manly-Warringah (24 seasons).
* The Under 18s played Sydney Uni 29 years to the day that the club first played Sydney Uni in Under Age football - the then Penrith Under 20s first played Sydney Uni on 8th May, 1982. In those 29 years, the clubs have met only five times in Age football - 1982 (twice), 2009 (twice) and 2011 (once).
* The Under 18s game at Alan Davidson Oval was only the fifth game (over three separate days) that the club has played at that venue. Prior to this weekend's game - on 29/5/04 Senior/Reserve/Third Grades played UTS there; and on 12/7/09 the Under 18s also played Sydney Uni at AD Oval. None of these five matches have seen a Penrith win.
Players
* Congratulations to the following players who made their debut for the club in this round:
Reserve Grade (1)
Christopher Scanlon
Under 18 Grade (1)
Joshua Jenner
(Joshua kicked a goal on debut)
* Congratulations to Dale Chivas on kicking his best individual tally for the club (10 goals) - his previous best was five, achieved in Round 3 this season against Manly-Warringah. This took Dale past 100 career goals for Penrith.
* Dale's 10 goals was the best individual haul this season, beating Jason Bradley's 7 goals in Round 2 for Reserve Grade vs UNSW/ES.
* Dale became the 19th player to kick 10 goals in a match for Penrith, which has now happened on 29 occasions.
* Surprisingly, the remarkable effort of kicking 10 goals out of 13 is not a record percentage of goals kicked (of those who have kicked 10 goals in a match). That record is held by Jason Boneham, who kicked 11 goals out of 13 vs Manly-Warringah in 1999 in Senior Grade. The "percentage ladder" for players who have kicked 10 or more in a game (50% or higher), is as follows:
84.62% - Jason Boneham - 11 goals (team total 13) - vs Manly-Warringah, Senior Grade, 1999
76.92% - Dale Chivas - 10 toals (13) - vs Balmain, Senior Grade, 2011
73.33% - Jason Boneham - 11 goals (15) - vs S-W Sydney, Senior Grade, 1999
61.90% - Michael Ross - 13 goals (21) - vs Southern Sharks, Under 18 Grade, 2002
57.89% - Ben McGovern - 11 goals (19) - vs East Coast Eagles, Under 18 Grade, 2010
57.14% - Glenn Bradley - 12 goals (21) - vs Balmain, Under 18 Grade, 1998
55.00% - Glenn Bradley - 11 goals (20) - vs East Sydney, Under 18 Grade, 1998
54.17% - Peter Jannenga - 13 goals (24) - vs Heathcote, Senior Grade, 1990
50.00% - Michael Campbell - 13 goals (26) - vs Baulkham Hills, Senior Grade, 1989
Teams
* As previously mentioned, this was Penrith's first ever game against Balmain in Senior Football - so all highests/lowests in this game are firsts. This was Penrith's first game at Drummoyne Oval since the Under 18s played there on 14th May, 2006.
* Despite losing, Senior Grade's score of 13.8 (86) was the fourth-highest score in the club this season. The three higher scores have all been above 100 points, and all resulted in wins.
* Senior Grade's score of 13.8 (86) was the 12th time the club has kicked 86 points in a match - 1 x 11.20; 4 x 12.14 and 7 x 13.8 - resulting in 8 wins and 4 losses.
* After winning three in a row vs Macquarie Uni (20/6/09 - 8/5/10), Reserve Grade has now lost two in a row against that club (10/7/10 - 7/5/11).
* Reserve Grade's score of 10.7 (67) was the 11th time the club has kicked 67 points - 2 x 8.19; 2 x 9.13 and 7 x 10.7. Surprisingly, three times this score has won for the club, including once by 57 points:
1982 - Penrith 10.7 (67) d Sutherland 1.4 (10) in Reserve Grade.
* Reserve Grade passed 24,000 points in competition football.
* Sydney Uni extended its longest winning sequence against the Rams in the Under 18s to 3 games (2/5/09 - 8/5/11). It also recorded its highest score and highest winning margin against the Penrith Under 18s.
* Under 18 Grade's score of 7.2 (44) was the 13th occasion the club has kicked 44 points in a game - 9 x 6.8 and 4 x 7.2. Unsurprisingly, this score has never won a game for Penrith. The 117 point loss suffered by the Under 18s is the highest defeat one of the 44 point scores has encountered - the only other 100 + point loss incurred when Penrith kicked 44 points was in 2006 when UTS defeated Penrith by 103 points in Senior Grade.
