Momentum is building for the Rams assault on the 2011 competition with excellent numbers attending the twice weekly training sessions. With some quality players returning to the fold along with new signings, Penrith certainly look to have three very competitive sides this season. Senior coach Geoff Payne now has the arduous task of selecting the first grade squad for the first trial game scheduled against Mac Uni on March 12.
The following week all grades play trials at Greygums Oval against Moorebank Sports, which will give an early indication of the season's prospects.
The return of former Rams, Nathan Wright (Pennant Hills) along with Dale Chivas and Jay Edwards (Campbelltown) to the club has been a great boost with their dedication and commitment to training whist new signings Jimmy Denton (East Coast), Brad Redfern (Holroyd-Parramatta) and Mitch Renehan (Sapphire Coast) have also been impressive.
The Rams have engaged the services of a fitness and conditioning coach, "Wicked" Wally who ran his first session last Thursday and will continue on until the start of the season.
Players have also utilised the initiative of free gym membership with our partners, the Penrith YMCA with good numbers attending.
The Under 18's are forming a good squad with coach Robert Murie pleased with their progression as they compete in this years Premier Cup. With many new faces from all four feeder clubs (St Clair, Penrith, Blue Mountains and Emu Plains/Glenmore Park) committing this year, great numbers have been attending training. The 18's also play their first trial on March 12 against whaat id expected to be a very strong Mac Uni outfit.
New players are welcome to join the club with training at Greygums Oval, Cranebrook every Tuesday and Thursday from 6;30 PM (Under 18's from 6 PM).
