Penrith had three big wins against the Goannas at Greygums Oval yesterday.
Under 18 Grade started the day off with a 117 point demolition of their rivals, winning 18.10 (118) to 0.1 (1). Ben McGovern kicked eight goals, taking his season's tally to 72 and in doing so becoming the highest goalkicker for Penrith in an Under 18/20 Grade season. The previous record of 70 was held by Glenn Bradley-Labra, achieved in the 1998 season.
Reserve Grade went one point better and knocked off the Goannas by 118 points, 25.12 (162) to 7.2 (44). Jason Bradley kicked 9 goals, passing the 300 goal mark for the Rams and becoming the highest career Reserve Grade goalkicker in Penrith's history.
Senior Grade were untroubled in a very lopsided affair, winning by a whopping 164 points - 25.16 (166) to 0.2 (2). Blake Roberts kicked 10 goals and Ben Robinson seven, Blake's effort being the first time a Rams player had hit double figures in Senior Grade since Jason Boneham kicked 11 against South-West Sydney at Rosedale Oval on 5th June, 1999.
Next week sees the final Home and Away Round of the season. All three grades play Southern Power at Gwawley Park, with the Under 18s kicking off proceedings at the dewy time of 8.30 am.
First Grade V Holroyd-Parramatta Goanna's at Greygums Oval
Penrith Rams officially sealed a finals spot for just the third time in sixteen years with a thumping 164 point win over Holroyd=Parramatta on Saturday at Greygums Oval. Their twelvth win of the year has assured the team of finals action in the upcoming weeks.
The Rams got off to a flying start in recording a 9.1 first quarter with six individual scorers as they showed complete domination against the Goannas who were unable to post any points on the scoreboard. The second term saw a similar amount of scoring shots with a six goal barrage and another five finding the smaller posts, whilst the Goanna's were able to pick up their only two scoring shots, both behinds, of the match.
With 18's coaches Geoff Sharp and Craig Payne taking the reins in the absence of "home dad" Kevin Tate. Penrith were keen to outdo the 18's earlier 117 point win and with a ninety four point break at half time, it was just around the corner as the Rams piled on another five goals in the third term with Dave Bradley giving unbelievable service to the forward line racking up fifteen possessions in the twenty two minute quarter. Another five goals in the final term saw the team record their biggest win of the season as the team celebrated their return to finals football.
Dave Bradley was sensational on the day and carved up the opposition all day and was voted the "IGA Signature" Best on Ground Award. Blake Roberts 10 goal haul saw him join an elite group of players to achieve this feat and was the recipient of the "Red Cow Inn" Award. Ben Robinson celebrated his birthday in fine style with a personal best of seven majors. Nathan Allison and John Keane again showed great poise and commitment along with captain Lachie Smith (2 goals).
A "mistake" in the posting of another match on the Sydney AFL website showing UTS had been beaten by Sydney Uni moved the team to second spot but was amended on Sunday to show that UTS had in fact won the encounter. Penrith now lie in third spot and face fourth placed Southern Power next week at Gwawley Park and are likely to front them again the following week in the elimination final.

Reserve Grade V Holroyd-Parramatta Goanna's at Greygums Oval
Reserve Grade posted their biggest win of the season on Saturday with a 118 point drubbing of Holroyd-Parramatta at Greygums Oval. Their elevent win of the season sees their best year since 1982 but the inequitable finals format (only four finals teams in the 14 team comp) sees them unlikely to figure in the finals despite being just a win out of third spot.
The Rams got off to a stunning 9.2 first quarter and were able to keep their opponents scoreless in a stunning display. Another six majors recorded in the second quarter were negated somewhat with the Goanna's knocking up there of their own but the match was virtually over with the home team retiring to the sheds at the long break with a commanding 76 point lead.
Another six goals were added in the third quarter with Holroyd-Parramatta being able to keep some pride with two of their own and with the radar going slightly off-beam in the last session, with 4.6 it was a comprehensive 118 point win to the classy Rams outfit.
Jason "Jabba" Bradley was lethal up front and recorded his best tally for the year with nine goals and was voted best on ground getting great service from Christian Triffitt (2 goals) out on the flank. Captain Mark Jackson (4 goals) was inspirational once again as he led the side in the relentless performance whilst Jakeman King-Smith's long probing kicks from the backline set up many good attacking moves. Shane Turner continues his great comeback after an earlier injury and Jason Ware (4 goals) was also prominant throughout in the big victory. 18's player Grady Tapping was the other multiple scorer with a double.
The team needs some upset results next week in other matches to be able to snare a finals berth and will be looking to repeat the dose against Southern Power in the final Home and Away match on Saturday

Under 18's V Holroyd-Parramatta Goanna's at Greygums Oval
The Under 18's had to record a "come from behind" win when they played the third placed Goanna's at Greygums on Saturday. With the visitors stunning the unbeaten Rams with a behind in the first two minutes. The final 78 minutes proved fruitless as Holroyd-Parramatta could not add to their score with thye Rams recording a 117 point victory, their fifteenth successive win of the 2010 season. The win on Saturday saw the Under 18's side equal the most number of wins in a season in this grade in the clubs history whilst Ben McGovern's 72nd goal sees him break the previous goalkicking record for the club in the 18's
With both teams fielding full squads, it was the Goannas who took the early initiative, but a flailed shot saw just one flag being waved for just the second time in a month as Parramatta went to a one point lead and became the only team to lead the Rams this year. The euphoria didn't last long, however, as Jack Ponton quickly responded with a six pointer as Penrith went on to record six goals for the term. Another four majors in the second quarter allowed the team to go to the big break with a 63 point lead over the third placed Goannas.
It could be said that it was a great half of footy but coaches Sharp and Payne were not impressed with the performance and considered it a rather lacklustre display, reminding the team that with finals looming, they had to concentrate more on their deliveries and hard ball gets. The third quarter saw an even match with the Rams unable to capitalise on many opportunities and only able to post a further fifteen points, but their defence held up well once again and didn't allow the visitors any more movement on the scoreboard. With the game all sewn up, the Rams opened up once again in the final 20 minutes to provide their best total of the game with another 39 points to run away with a mammoth 117 point victory over the improved Holroyd-Parramatta outfit.
Jack Ponton (4 goals) provided the spark in the Rams lineup with another classy display along with Campbell Hislop whose speed dazzled his opposing players. Ben Priest was solid in defence once again, negating many of the Goanna's forward movements with Shaun Stevens always getting the Sherrin back into the attacking zone. Lynchpins Adam Sharp and Matty Payne played their usual faultless games with pin point deliveries to the forward line. Full forward Ben McGovern's eight goals saw him break the Penrith 18's kicking record for the season whilst Jack Ponton was the other multiple scorer with a bag of four. The loss of former Blue Mountains junior, Joe Hunt, with a broken collar bone soured the win and we wish him a speedy recovery.
The Rams now face second placed Southern Power in the final Home and Away match on Saturday at Gwawley Park at 8:30 AM. With a minor premiership under their belts, it's now time to start the hard work with finals time just around the corner.
