John started to play for the 1975 Ellis Noack Green Valley u/15s premiers.He played again for the Doug Pritchard Green Valley u/17s losing grand final in 1977 winning the r/up B&Fs. In 1977 he also began playing senior football with the club then known as Southern Districts in the u/19s .John played in the losing 1979 Mick Chapman prelim side winning the most improved award and also made his senior debut on the ball for Ian (moe)Marston side.In 1980 John was captain of the Sam Grasso u/19s winning the B&F and playing 6 senior games.In 1981 John was appointed coach of the u/19s.John continued to play senior football for the Sth Districts,Liverpool,Sth West Sydney clubs between 1980-1990 these years included the honours of being club captain 1983, coach in 1986, playing in 2 premierships1987/88 one as vice captain as well as coaching the 1989 u/20s premiership.John also played 5 years of representitive football during this period.John moved and played in suburban Melbourne in 1990.Coming back in 1991 to play till 1996 in these years included coaching the 1994 reserves premiership and playing in the losing 1996 reserves grand final.In 1997 John was appointed coach of the Campelltown u/18s finishing 5th, and winning the u/18s premiership there in 1998.John gave up footy only to resurface in 2001 as the 1st ever St Clair Football club senior coach taking them to the grand final.In all John played over 350 senior games of football,collecting many awards and coached 3 flags.John now lives In Adelaide as a level 2 coach were he continues to teach the code at the local school as well as at the Reynella Football club.John has recently been appointed District schools coach for 2 years.
