Lachie Smith has been appointed as seniors captain for 2010 and will be assisted by 2009 B & F player, John Keane as Vice-Captain. Daniel Barnes has been rewarded with his tireless work both on and off the field for many years with taking up the captaincy role for the Reserves. The Under 18's leadership group consists of Harley Stibbard, Adam Sharp and Matty Payne with Daniel Schroot as captain.
Seniors captain, Lachie Smith takes on the dual role of Captain and Assistant Coach in the seniors. After coaching the team to five wins in 2009, Lachie is confident that the new structure this year will reap rewards and allow him to focus more with the on-field direction of the youth infused side. 2009 Best & Fairest, John Keane, will be acting as Vice Captain. Both these roles were nominated by the player group and were seen by both the club and players as being ideal candidates to restore pride and success to the Penrith Rams.
Daniel Barnes has been honoured with the Reserves captaincy role in 2010. The fierce defender has been a prominent figure in the club for many years and has 180 plus games to his credit. With the Rams looking to field a full side this year after struggling in the past for numbers, a very competitive side is expected to be announced for their opening round against Uni NSW/ES Bulldogs at Greygums on April 10.
Daniel Schroot has been named Captain of the Under 18's who are expected to be a dominant force in the competition this year. Daniel joined the Rams in 2009 after a stellar career at the Penrith Swans and after shrugging off a serious shoulder injury early in the season, showed a lot of maturity during their successful season. Daniel will be assisted by "hardman" Matty Payne, Ruckman Adam Sharp and Pioneers player Harley Stibbard. These three are expected, along with others, to play up in the senior team throughout the season. The 18's, who have a bye in Round 1, kick off their campaign at Monarch Oval on April 17 when they face last years grand finalists, Southern Power.
The Rams would like to congratulate all the above players on their prestigious appointments.
