In going down to Parramatta on Saturday, Senior Grade put in a disappointing performance.
Final scores were: Holroyd-Parramatta 14.15 (99) d Penrith 6.4 (40).
An undermanned Reserve Grade side battled valiantly but were no match for their opponents.
Final scores were: Holroyd-Parramatta 23.20 (158) d Penrith 2.5 (17).
Senior Coach Jason Bradley's match report follows:
A disappointing outcome to what should have been a far more competitive match. This was a match that we should have won if we were to have a chance of making the finals at the end of the year.
We started off pretty well even though the opposition had by far the more chances on goal and their inaccurate kicking kept us in front at the first break. After the break we played dumb football and were guilty of watching our opponents getting their hands on the ball first instead of us being the first to make use of the ball.
From then on we were playing catch up football and we were caught playing behind for the rest of the day. We need to improve markedly if we want to win another match this season.
Congratulations to Tom McNamara on a good performance first up. He battled well deep in defence and showed plenty of promise for the remainder of the season. Jay Edwards, Dale Chivas, Steve McWilliam, Jason Ware & Ash Brown all performed well.
Let’s all make a concerted effort to get to training and work on our deficiencies and start the second round of matches with a win and go into the mid-season break with some confidence.
