The Rams travelled to Gwawley Park to take on competition leaders Southern Sharks on Saturday.
In the excitingly even competition that is the Sydney AFL First Division, where the final four is already decided four rounds in, it was always going to be a demanding task for the Rams.
Final scores were: Southern Sharks 27.23 (185) d Penrith 5.0 (30).
Reserve Grade were unable to raise the numbers for their game.
Unfortunately, a large injury and unavailability list made this decision necessary and the club felt it was simply unfair to ask many players to double up to enable a side to be fielded.
Senior coach Jason Bradley's match report follows:
Firstly I would like to thank those players who made the effort to attend the game and also to Tim Curtin for running the boundary for us. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
We were desperately undermanned, undersized and lacked skill compared to the opposition but we did make them work hard for their victory. Our endeavor to chase and put pressure on the Sharks was excellent and our tackling was the best we have produced for the season so far. What let us down was our disposal and the quick turnover particularly around the half back, centre areas.
Good players on the day were, in no particular order Glenn Bradley-Labra, Jay Edwards, Lachlan Smith, John Keane, Steve McWilliam & Gerard Leslie.
We must now re-group and prepare for this weekends match against Macquarie University. All games have been put back to normal start times. First grade to be there by midday.
