The Seniors finally showed form against one of the top sides in First Division when they went down to the Sharks by 14 points at Greygums Oval last Saturday.
The windy conditions made it difficult for both sides at times, but the Rams were magnificent in sticking with their highly fancied opponents all day.
The Sharks probably always felt they were in control, however Penrith showed enormous maturity in not letting them run away with the game as has happened previously this season.
Final scores: Southern Sharks 12.15 (87) d Penrith 11.7 (73).
Goalkickers: D. Chivas 3, J. Edwards 2, G. Bradley-Labra 2, L. Smith, M. Jackson, M. Burgess, B. Cooke
Best Players: J. Keane, D. Chivas, L. Smith, J. Edwards, B. Paterson, T. McNamara
Reserve Grade were never in the hunt, but as has always been the case this year the entire side battled on manfully. Being short on numbers again proved a major problem, and yet again enormous thanks go out to everyone who doubled up (either from the Under 18s or those who played Seniors after the Reserve Grade game). Well done everyone!
Final scores: Southern Sharks 24.21 (165) d Penrith 1.3 (9).
Goalkicker: D.Seymour
Best Players: D. Perry, C. Knight, J. Ware, D. Seymour, P. Swan
