Senior coach Jason Bradley's match report follows:
This was always going to be a tough match as all matches against Nor West are. We came out a bit slow and allowed them to kick the opening couple of goals. To our credit we started to get a bit of a roll on and finished the quarter with a couple of good goals. We were going into the wind in the first quarter but we worked hard to maintain possession quite well.
In the second quarter, we had full use of the wind and it showed as we piled on eight goals to one to take a massive lead into the halftime break. Up till this stage, we were playing very good football, albeit a few players were trying to do it all themselves and in turn they were either getting caught or disposing of the ball to the advantage of the opposition. This is a part of our game that we must lose immediately or it will haunt us in coming matches.
The third quarter was to say the least, disgraceful. We allowed the opposition to get themselves back into the match with a six goal to nil display of running football. We all dropped our heads and let our opponents to take control of a match that we should have put out of reach of the opposition.
To our credit we stepped up to the plate and righted the ship with a better performance that saw us take advantage of the wind again. We did finish off stronger than the opposition and I put that down to the focus on fitness work that was done in the pre-season.
Good players for the day were Lachlan Smith, Dale Chivas, Jay Edwards, Gerard Leslie, Glenn Bradley-Labra, Steve McWilliam & John Keane. First gamers Daen Lomas & Max Roberts played very well and showed all those who watched that they will have a long future in first grade if they really want it.
Next week we play UTS at home in what will be another tough match. If we play to our potential we can definitely match it with them as they do not seem to be the same dominant force that they once boasted. Let’s give them a taste of defeat at our home ground. Let’s make our home ground a place of pain for every opposition team.
