The Penrith Rams continued their build-up to the Sydney AFL season last Saturday with a comfortable 67 point victory over an understrength Wyong at Greygums Oval.
After a hard fought match the previous week against Gosford, fellow Black Diamond League side Wyong made the trek to the foot of the mountains.
Penrith started strongly and were able to open up a handy lead in the warm conditions. David Cummings was a livewire up forward early in the piece, having a hand in a number of Rams goals.
Five goals in each of the first two quarters saw Penrith take a comfortable 39 point lead into the long break, with Collingwood scholarship player Nick Perry having a great influence across the middle of the ground with his hard running and pin-point disposal.
The third quarter saw the home side continue to dominate proceedings, with Steve McWilliam racking up a mountain of possessions, whilst Luke Barr was providing a headache for the Magpie defenders across half-forward.
The final term was a more even contest, with the Rams taking the opportunity to have a look at a number of players in different positions in the lead up to their Round 1 clash with Camden on April 12.
Final scores were Penrith 18-13-121 to Wyong 8-6-54.
