Mark Maher takes out the 2016 Sanders Medal (Division Two Best and Fairest)

Camden Cats player Mark Maher has claimed the Sanders Medal after a brilliant season on Monday Night at the Phelan Medal awards night.

Mark, who is 26 years old won the Sanders Medal in a close run race finishing with 21 votes, 3 votes ahead of Penrith Rams Phillip Aumann. Mark had a great year where he played 17 games in Division Two where he polled eight times including five best on ground performances where he picked up the three votes.

Mark started the season with a bang where he polled fifth-teen of his twenty one votes before Round 10 in an outstanding start to the season. His performances early in the year ultimately propelled him into Sanders Medal contention. He also had an outstanding year in front of goal, kicking 18 goals this season.

Phillip Aumann from the Penrith Rams finished the year in second place on 18 votes while Sydney University’s Stephen Lloyd and Randwick City’s David King finished the year in equal third on 16 votes.
