AFL Sydney is pleased to announce that the 2016 Round 12 Rising Star is Callum McEvoy-Gray from the Western Suburbs Magpies.
Callum started his AFL career playing for Western Suburbs Juniors, including representative junior football. Callum then played for the successful Western Suburbs Under 19 Division 2 team that won back to back titles in 2014 and 2015 to push for a spot in the Western Suburbs Premier Division team.
Still only 18 years of age Callum has shown his talent in the past couple of games where he has was named third best against UNSW Eastern Suburbs and best on against North Shore. He has also been rewarded with a spot on the Sydney AFL team of week this round.
Callum was named best on for his team against Pennant Hills Demons in Round 12. His niggle towards the football and running ability has helped to create great forward pressure as well as his never give up attitude with constant second and third efforts to help his team. The Western Suburbs Magpies would like to pass on their congratulations to Callum on his strong 2016 season and deserved nomination as an AFL Sydney Rising Star.
Congrats Callum!
