AFL Sydney is pleased to announce the Round 8 Women's Rising Star is Taylor Blaydon from the Newtown Breakaways.
Taylor is relatively new to AFL having played touch football and Water Polo before being asked to try Australian Rules football by a friend for the Drummoyne Power Junior football club where she instantly fell in love with the sport.
Taylor who is 18 years old has played six games for the Newtown Breakaways this year where she has impressed highly. When asked about how she is enjoying her football she said:
‘I have played around six games now and I feel I am really starting to adjust and learn all of the rules. Everyone around the club is fantastic to be around and it’s a great atmosphere to play in. I joined the Breakaways because they looked like a very welcoming club which is not only focused on just playing football but also on the wider community’.
Taylor is currently in the process of transitioning from playing both Water Polo to focusing entirely on AFL.
Congrats Taylor!
